A Trying Week

This is turning into a difficult week here. On Monday my DH had surgery, a surgery that was relatively minor but he is in considerable pain. On Tuesday my youngest son, who is in construction, fell from a wall on to concrete shattering his right elbow as well as bruising ribs etc.  Tomorrow he will have surgery to put in a metal plate and pins to try to get his elbow bones lined up so they can heal.  We live very close to the hospital and I've been walking there and back luckily in pleasant weather. Nevertheless  I am struggling to keep a calm and optimistic attitude.

This week marks a year since I began this Blog.  I intended it to be a place mostly just for a few friends and faraway family who might be interested in the goings on in my life. My sisters and their families live 1500 miles away and  I have a very dear friend whose friendship goes back literally more than 50 years! She lives 600 miles away.   Sometimes it is a challenge knowing what to blog about. Life can be so ordinary and ordinary doesn't make for exciting posts.
I'm thankful for those who come by and read; those who leave comments ( so I know someone has actually been by) and those who don't comment often.

  1. Sorry to read about your husband and son, I hope surgery went well/goes well for your son.

Sometimes ordinary is okay, it lets others know that it is okay for life to be just 'ordinary'....is there really such a thing? Anyway take care to you all. I know just what it is like to have friends and family at a great distance - mine are 12,000 miles away!

  3. It's hard when your loved ones are in pain. I hope you will continue to appreciate the small joys of life and pass that joy on to your husband and son. I'm sure they appreciate that part of your nature. God will give you what you need as you need it. My children (all except one daughter) live far away (900 miles or so for most of them) and I know I appreciate just seeing them say some small thing on Facebook. Then I know they are well and happy. I'm sure your family likes to hear about anything going on in your life. :)

  4. So sorry about your husband and son. Praying that surgery will go well and that they both will heal quickly. I know how you feel about blogging. I struggle with feeling that I don't have anything going on so no one would want to read what I would write. It keeps me from posting as often as I probably should. On the other hand, I do enjoy living a generally calm, ordinary life!

  5. Goodness me, you are having your share of worries (and hospitals). I wish you & your loved ones successful surgeries and speedy recoveries and for you, I wish you a measure of peace and comfort knowing that all of us "out here" are praying for you & yours. In regards to not feeling you have much to blog/write about, I would like to share a quote from Sir Thomas More (1478-1535) which I find reassuring when I feel pressure to change my mundane and uneventful life.... "The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest." I hope this will resonate with you as much as it has for me.
