This and That

I love new beginnings. A new week, a new month, and, of course, a new year.  I've been inspired to sort through and tidy up.  I went through my scrapbooking paper yesterday. Set aside a bag to send to the thrift store and some went in the garbage.  This morning I went through my tea towel/dish cloth drawer. I treated myself to 8 new microfibre dishcloths on the weekend so I demoted 8 old ones to the rag box.  I'm not going to buy any more tea towels for many years because I found I have two dozen!!

The Christmas school break is over and this morning the two grands went off to school. I've enjoyed having them around more. I found the little man very willing to curl up and be read to. One book we both enjoyed was based on the old song "The Fox went out on a Chilly Night". Do you know it?  I think it's been around for a long time.

Another of our favourites is Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig. Poor Sylvester finds a magic pebble but before he can get home a lion appears. Sylvester panics and wishes himself to be a rock.  How his parents search for their dear son and how he finally becomes himself again makes for a delightful store.

The rain continues to fall and melt the snow we got over the weekend. It was pretty coming down but there were many many "fender-benders" because we're really not used to driving in icy conditions. So back to rain is not such a bad thing. Once the slush is gone I hope to resume my morning walks.
I hope your week is off to a pleasant start.                  Granny Marigold

  1. Hi GM! I slogged through the slush on my walk to the bank. It's messy!
Oh how fun to read favorite stories to the grands!

  3. Not familiar with either of these books. But I'm sure they are great fun, for a read-to-me time.

We got some snow, some rain, and back to very, very, very cold temps. And snow flurries today.

But... This is winter in the upper NE! And we might as well hunker down, stay cozy, and live with it! ,-)

    Otherwise move.

And we spent 3 months in FL one year. I do not want to do that again.

Sooooooo.... Do what the animals do. Hibernate!!!! ,-)
