In My Kitchen

I did make that apple/caramel/crumble pie that I mentioned yesterday.  The apples were so big it took only 4 to make the pie. I melted the caramels and poured it on the apples before sprinkling on the topping.

The first piece is always hard to remove, isn't it.

While the oven was hot I made a recipe of scones. When I was doing my grocery shopping this morning I noticed that the glaced fruit ( the stuff used in Christmas cakes etc..)  was marked down from 4.99 to 2.99 and that is what I used as my fruit in this batch.

It was much cooler here today and a perfect day for baking. What did you do today?

Thanks for visiting.     Granny Marigold

  1. Your baked goods look and sound delicious. I am looking forward to fall and apple pie baking weather. As it's still hot here, I am not looking for reasons to turn on the oven yet.
I visited my chiropractor today followed by lunch and shopping with my sister-in-law.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  2. That pie looks delicious. Apple is hubby's favorite pie, I just might have to try this. I made a batch of brownies and the apples that were in the dehydrator finished up. I also worked for about an hour organizing my craft room.

  4. The pie looks SO good! I went to Trader Joe's and to lunch with our Jenny and the girls. I read, wound yarn, and cooked sausages for dinner. A great day!

  6. That pie looks delicious! Funny I can't remember what I did yesterday. :) That's terrible! Let's see...I did go to town and buy a few groceries.

  7. The mixed candied fruit in the scones looks very tasty. Reminds me of scones I've had in England and Scotland. That will be good with a good cup of strong tea. I only have dried apricots in the freezer, so maybe I will try that. Phil/Eagle Bend, MN.

    1. I've used dried apricots in scones as well as dried cranberries and loved the results. About the only thing I've tried to add and been sorry is blueberries which resulted in purplish scones that were just a little off-putting.
