I don't know if these rhymes qualify as poetry or not. Are you familiar with them? I used to know what day of the week each of my 5 children were born on but have now forgotten. It seems my brain can only hold so and so much and useless knowledge is the first to go.
I used to read poems to my children and grandchildren too. I was fortunate in that I had the care of the first three grands 5 days a week while their moms worked and the last two grands live right here in the same house. So although I don't think I read them these sayings, I did read many others to them.
I gather these illustrations were part of an ad for thread.

ReplyDeleteHi! I don't remember ever seeing those until I was older. I don't remember seeing the little sayings on the bottom either. Is it on the birth certificate? I am curious to know what day I was born on. Is that on your birth certificate or how did you look it up? Nancy
ReplyDeleteI just googled "what day of the week was..the date of your birth..?" and it gave me the entire calendar month for that year.

Just goes to show how wrong they can be!! You probably were born just before midnight and were really supposed to be a Friday's child.

ReplyDeleteOh I love the old poem and especially Mother Goose rhymes. I read them to my girls when they were small. I don't know which day I was borne. Guess I'll have to find out and come back. :)
