Blustery Day

Oh but the wind today is very gusty! On my walk this morning the wind was swirling large bunches of leaves in mini tornadoes.  The power is out for some; so far we have been lucky.

The humidity is very low and I sure can tell. My hair is being unmanageable. Maybe I should try rubbing it with a Bounce sheet?  Might even work.   Anyone have a solution for fly-away hair?

I was thinking of making my Christmas cake today but with the threat of no power I decided to wait until tomorrow.   Hopefully by then the wind will have died down.

On my walk I spied this pair of Hooded Mergansers on the lake. Every winter we get a pair spend the coldest months here. I wonder if it's the same pair that returns? Are they not beautiful?

(This pic is from the internet. I didn't have my camera with me).

Thanks for visiting.   Have a great day.       Granny Marigold

  1. I hope you didn't end up losing your power!
In the winter I use lots of cream rinse in my hair to combat the low humidity.
    Have a nice week!

  2. They are indeed beautiful! We had our blustery day Saturday, we're supposed to have between 3 and 4 inches of rain between tomorrow and Saturday.

  4. There have been lots of wind storms across the country lately. Reminds me of Winnie the Pooh and The Blustery Day. :)

  5. Even the ducks have fly-away hair! :) The Bounce sheet sounds like it might work. I love the windy pictures!

  6. I love your windy picture! I hope that your power held out and that the wind has died down. I have never seen birds like those... we have pretty ordinary birds around here. I use Silk Drops for my flyaway hair. I get it from my hairdresser and it's a little pricey but you only need to use a very tiny bit so it lasts a long time.

  7. Our power went off yesterday evening for a couple of minutes. I was a happy camper when it came back on so quickly! Some dahlias done yesterday, more to do today.

  8. Hi! I hope your power never went off for you! I dislike it when ours goes off for very long. That picture of the tree and the wind blowing the leaves is so pretty!! Nancy

  9. We went for a walk in the wind in the afternoon on tuesday, and when we got back home our power WAS out. That was about 3:30. At 6:00 we left our cold, dark house to go out to eat and then to the mall to do some shopping. When we got back home a little after 9:00, the power was back on, but our cable was out until this morning. - no TV, No land line phone, no Internet.
Actuall, we were lucky. Some folks will have a dark, cold Thanksgiving.
