Rainy Sunday

It's been a very wet Sunday. I did get out for a walk when the rain  let up. Fortunately I had taken an umbrella because before I was half done walking the rain began again. I didn't really mind actually, because I like walking in rain. Once my feet started to get wet I felt differently.

We went looking for Daffodils, not Violets, in pots. They often are out in front of the grocery stores at this time of the year and sure enough they were there as well as Tulips and Hyacinths. I left the Tulips  but brought home a pot that must have seven or eight of the tiny Tete-a-tete daffs ( in bud)  and a pot with a single Hyacinth which will bloom and fill the kitchen with its wonderful scent.  The photo is dark but you can kind of see them. I'll post pics when they are blooming.  Behind them on the windowsill are my African Violets which are definitely NOT blooming and have been warned to shape up or end up in the compost heap.

Our very vegetarian supper consisted of onions, garlic, celery, broccoli, spinach and leftover noodles in a garlic/hoisin sauce ( from a bottle).  With some Feta cheese crumbled over top it tasted quite good. Even DH thought so. Believe me, if I would have dared to concoct such a dish 40 years ago he would have been horrified. With the years he's gotten more used to my kind of food.

Not much of a post but I did want to say hi and I'm still here. The headaches are still a problem and I haven't felt much like doing much of anything.
I hope you have had a lovely Sunday and that the week ahead will go smoothly.

Thanks for visiting.        Granny M.

  2. I don't mind a rainy day here and there, but I don't usually go walking. My African violets are not in bloom right now either, but they do go through spells like that. There are no spring flowers here... and it's way too early to get my hopes up because winter here has at least another three months to go!

    1. Oh Debi, if I only went walking on days when it didn't rain I probably wouldn't walk much from November until April!!

I buy African Violets in bloom and after the flowers fade they never bloom again in spite of my best efforts.

  3. Sure hope your headaches go away and you feel better soon. I really want more African Violets. For the first time ever, African Violets thrive and bloom in my kitchen window here. I had some that outgrew the pots and got ugly. I re-potted them but they never looked good again so ended up in the compost bin. You make me want to go buy flowers! I like this post. :)

  4. It was a wet one, but I managed to get my mother out for a bit of a walk in a dry spell. At least it is relatively mild:) Do you have much success with the daffodils? Mine have always ended up rather leggy, even in a window.

    1. I put them out on the porch for night so that helps a bit but yes, they do get quite leggy after a while. If they get too tall I cut them and put them in a vase.

  5. Oh G.M. I am so sorry the headaches are still plaguing you. Chuck suffers from migraines that are especially bad in the winter so I understand what you are going through.
Your supper looks delicious! Glad you enjoyed it.
It would ber so easy to say phoo to walking in bad weather but we sure would miss alot of walks!
I noticed beautiful tulips at a grocery store and was tempted but I had a few more errands to do and they would freeze left in the car. Maybe next time!
    Take care.

  7. Potted spring bulbs are such a treat, especially at this time of year. So fun to watch them open as we wait for spring's arrival.
Your dinner looks super good to me. Glad to hear your husband is getting with the program :). Now if you could just get that African Violet to cooperate.
So sorry to hear that your headaches are still with you.
