Flowers and a Couple of thrifty buys

My pots of Petunias are pretty happy so far.

We used to have Perennials Sweet Peas growing near this spot and some are popping up in odd spots. They are all shades of pink so far. I know they'll want to grow 8 to 10 feet tall so I won't be able to find tall enough stakes for them here. We'll see what they'll do.

                           The Zinnias are blooming...

             ....and the Rudbeckias and Nasturtiums.

This red Dahlia is quite happy in this sunny spot.

Enough about flowers.  I went to the thrift store this morning and while there I checked the apron drawer like I always do. I found this very sturdy apron with three big pockets that I am going to use as a gardening apron. Now I can carry the tools I need with me as I garden..

I also found a different purse. I had bought one recently but even before I put my wallet and other stuff in it it was very heavy. Also it had short handles so I couldn't put it over my shoulder.  This one might not look quite as nice but will be more practical. One of the wonderful things about thrift stores is that if you make an unwise decision you haven't wasted more than a couple of dollars.

Well, I'm off to sit on the porch swing.  Hope you're having a good day.

  1. Beautiful garden. I have a little gardening bag that is useful as I potter but good idea with the apron saves getting clothes dirty too so a definite winner.

  2. Your petunias are still looking terrific. Mine are starting to get that mid-summer "ratty" look. I think it's probably time for them to get a trim......

  3. Why can't I grow flowers like you!! Yours are beautiful! What you said about the thrift store is so true, about an unwise decision. I thought the same thing yesterday. I found a pink skirt and was undecided about buying it, but thought shoot, it's only three dollars and I just might love it! I bought it.

  4. Your flowers are looking so nice. I neglected to plant zinnias this year and regret it now.
The apron looks perfect for wearing while gardening. I am forever misplacing my pruners.

  5. Oh my goodness, your flowers are fabulous! What a green thumb you have.
Love the apron and the purse.
I have spent the morning catching up on my ironing. Who likes to iron in the summer heat???

  6. Your flowers are looking gorgeous, and very pretty indeed. Your thrift stores are much better than our Charity shops - so much cheaper!

  8. Your gardens are beautiful! I've been checking the thrift stores for a new bag too... I've bought two new ones and I don't like them, so I'm looking for a less expensive alternative!
