Couldn't resist

It has been very hot and by the afternoon DH and I just don't feel like working. Yesterday we went instead to the thrift store ( nice A/C)  where I browsed. Found a copy of Still Alice by Lisa Genova, a book I've been wanting to own but was not willing to pay a lot for.  THEN I spied this tea set and I stood there and had a nice talk with myself about how I really did NOT need any more dishes. Started to wheel my cart away but just couldn't do it. So here it is on my sideboard. It's called The Vintage Garden and it's by Princess House.  That tea pot holds 64 oz , by far the largest one I own.

I also got this adorably cuddly sheep. It has a velcro opening on its tummy with a clay pack that can be removed and either heated in the microwave or frozen, depending which you prefer. I just love its softness and its suede face and legs. It is in perfect condition and has the word SAJE on the bottom of one foot.

Because of the heat my flowers are not doing as well as they would if only we'd get a good rain. I brought  these Casa Blanca Lilies  indoors where I can appreciate their beauty from close up.

I did get a few more treasures but will leave those for another day.  Stay cool and enjoy August!!

Thanks for visiting,

  1. I can see why you came home with your tea set. It is beautiful! It looks lovely on your buffet. Our flowers have pooped right out with our lack of rain. Well, there is always next year!

  2. I am so glad you didn't resist that pretty tea set. It looks right at home on your side board. I had to laugh at the conversation you had with yourself. I'm sure I have had the same one a time or two.
    The lilies are gorgeous.
    Have a happy weekend.

  3. Lovely tea set...those are nice big mugs! Uggh, I am making jam this afternoon/evening. Right now the house temperature is the same as outside. At least the nights are predicted to be nice and cool although our daytime temps will be pretty warm.

    1. I saw on a different blog ( can't remember which now) that you went out last night to see the meteorite showers. Very wise not to bother going far afield. We TRIED to get to the dark park but so did hundreds of others. It was a zoo. With all the cars trying in vain to park somewhere there was way more light pollution than if we'd stayed in our own back yard. Which we will do next year. Plus we got to bed at 2 which is way past my bedtime and since I cannot sleep in I didn't get much sleep.

    2. Sounds like our Perseid adventure last year. We were in the OK and went out to the White Lake Radio Observatory place, as did hundreds of others. It was too long of a wait, and we ended up leaving and I laid in the back yard at home and saw a few. So, the lesson is to stay away from any advertised event for Perseid viewing!

  8. Those fateful words..."couldn't resist". Mwahaha! :)I'm looking through my stuff for things to donate to my daughter's garage sale. Then maybe I can risk a trip to the thrift store! :)
