A fall in Fall

Yesterday I was wearing a lovely soft pair of socks as I came down these stairs. I was careless and stepped too close to the edge of the step and  I slipped. My feet went right out from under me and I went down the steps on my back. Luckily there's a landing so it was only 4 steps but I feel very bruised and battered. In an effort to stop myself from falling I clutched at the railing and hurt my shoulder as well. It always amazed me how in a moment of not paying attention I can mange to hurt myself.

On a far more pleasant subject... I bought these bulbs at Walmart earlier this week. It's too early to put them in the ground but the selection is best right now. I had a hard time choosing.

This is the newly cleared and worked through area in the front. I plan on making a trench behind the Daylilies and fill it with Spring bulbs. Behind that I will plant perennials that will grow high enough to disguise the foliage once it's finished blooming and it gets yellowed.  Transplanting the Stella D'Oro daylilies didn't stop them from blooming.

And the tomatoes just keep on coming. This has been such a good year for tomatoes!!
Something has been munching on that one on the right. I wonder what?

 Thanks for visiting.

  1. Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your fall. That is an awful feeling when you lose footing on a flight of stairs and try hard to stop yourself. I hope that your injuries aren't too serious and you will feel better soon.
I must get to Walmart and check out the bulbs. It's still so hot here I'm having trouble thinking of fall planting, but you are right... now is the time while the selection is good.
Your plan for the new bed sounds very pretty. Hope we get to see it next year in it's glory.
    Take good care of yourself.

  2. Goodness me, I am so glad you didn't break any bones but I'm sure you're feeling pretty beat up anyway after your fall. One can't be too careful but I do know that I am becoming more accident prone as I am getting older. Do take care!

  5. Oh no! I'm so sorry you took the tumble. I hope you had a good soak in some hot water and epsom salts, and feel a bit better tomorrow. Do you cover your tomatoes to keep the rain off and prevent the blight they get this time of year?

    1. We don't cover our tomatoes and so far there's no sign of blight. We've gotten so many tomatoes that I'm almost at the point of saying Just rip the plants out. With the week ahead forecast to be warm and sunny no doubt many more ripe tomatoes will be gathered and sent home with the kids when they come by.

  7. I'me so sorry that you fell. Just the thought of falling scares me and I know it's bound to happen. I get in a hurry and careless. Your tomatoes are beautiful! I can't imagine tomatoes vines looking so green and healthy. Ours were brown and dead in July. You mentioned Rosamunde Pilcher in your last post and I have been trying to remember the name of one of her books I read a few years back, something about a picture in an attic. I enjoyed reading the book. Hope you fell better soon.

  8. Goodness gracious, so sorry about your fall! I noticed your beautiful oak stairs in other photos you have posted. They look lovely but obviously slippery!
I am looking to make a new tulip bed too. Must get to Walmart and check out the bulbs!
    Feel better soon!
