This and That

Yesterday my DIL helped me plant those Spring bulbs ( well, actually she did 90% of the actual planting and I helped fill in the trench). I hope they will all bloom in Spring and to prevent squirrels from digging them up DH covered the area with a large piece of wire mesh.

Near where we were busy planting bulbs my DH and the littlest were taking down the trellis. Haven't decided yet whether to put it back up or not. It is getting shabby.

There was no school today so the littlest spent time with us.  We played Math games and he played with my calculator while I baked. Then he showed me how to play a game called Jenga. It's really simple to play . The blocks are piled in a tower with 3 going one way and the next 3 in the other direction. Once the tower is up you take turns carefully removing any block and the one who causes the whole thing to collapse loses. I was amazed that a piece near the bottom can be pulled out without necessarily causing a tumble.

Right now he and his grandad are learning to play Chess. They are reading the directions on his computer and trying very hard to make sense of it all. I wish them luck. In any case it gives me time to check out some blogs and even post this one.  I hope I haven't bored you too much.

Thanks for visiting,

  1. No danger of you boring me, Granny Marigold. Instead I enjoy this opportunity to see life in your corner. I especially like the idea of a grandson teaching a grandmother a new game. I also like the idea of a DIL helping you plant all of those bulbs. I am crossing my fingers that you will show them in their glory next spring.
As the world at times seems crazier and crazier, I cherish the simple every day events.

  2. I am never bored reading your posts. I was driving to town a couple hours ago thinking about you and that I haven't seen your blog in what seem like ages. How could I have missed your posts lately...all the way back to your grandson's birthday. He is a very handsome grandson! I have never seen so many pretty teacups, and can't imagine washing them all! Glad you're feeling better since your fall. Hope all the bulbs bloom beautifully this spring.

  3. Good grief! I just left you a long comment and don't know which post I left it under. Anyway I meant to answer your question of how close we live from the beach. It was a three hour drive to the Outer Banks, but we can get to the closest beach, which would be Atlantic Beach, in about two hours.

  5. I just noticed in the picture with your DH, that you have a very similar metal sculpture to mine! As well as a very similar side board, haha! Here's mine, on an old bird bath base,at the end of this post http://wyndsonfarm.blogspot.ca/2016/09/critter-catching.html

    1. Mine is an old birdbath base as well. The armillary looks very much alike. I got mine at Garden Works when they were still in Mission a number of years ago.

    2. The base was a GS purchase, and the armillary (thanks for the name) was a TS purchase I think. Not bought new, I know that for sure!
