A Little Boy and a Doll House

The little guy came home from school on Friday with a rooster mask he'd made because apparently it's Chinese New Year and the year of the Rooster.

He was a big help to me today when I decided to do a good cleaning of my Doll House. My hands are not steady enough to deal with the miniatures but his are!  Together we wiped floors, dusted tables, even cleaned the bathtub ( with a few wet Q-tips).

Only the bathroom doesn't have a working light. The kitchen one is plain to see but the livingroom one is on the Newel post. Outside the front door is also a light.

Yes, that's a tiny plunger beside the toilet. There's just no way I could have put the tiny jars on the shelves etc.. I sure appreciated his helpfulness.

As I've mentioned before, my oldest daughter made this house from a kit many years ago. It got many extras added through the years, including the kitchen which she and my DH added on. After all, what kind of a house has no kitchen!!

Thanks for visiting today.

  1. Ooooohhh! I love your dollhouse. Mine is still in the "painting the walls" stage so I can't decorate just yet. So looking forward to setting it all up one day. For now, I'll drool over yours! X Chy

  2. Cool. I have my late Mother-in-law's doll house. I'm afraid it is now suffering from neglect. Maybe I should have my grand kids clean it for me. My hands are clumsy too.

  4. Hubby built a dollhouse for our daughter when she was little. She played with it a bit but she really didn't have much interest in it so it sat in the basement for many years. Last summer I asked hubby to bring it upstairs and I put it in the spare room and hope to do some "decorating" in it. For now the grands like to play with it. I love your kitchen floor.

  5. This really is the most charming of dolls houses I have seen. I love its layout and the little kitchen added on the side, reminds me very much of some of the older houses here. Makes me want to give mine some attention but alas no room to do so at this time.

  8. What a delight to visit today and see your dolls house. Such a joy to see how your Grandson helped with the cleaning. We have just finished one for our Grandaughter and I intend to refurbish mine once we have moved and are settled.

  9. What a super mask!!!!!

Yes, I read that it is the Year Of The Rooster too! ,-) But don't know what that means. Bet he does though!!!!

What a magnificent doll house. And to think your daughter make it, years ago. And she and dad, added a kitchen. Does she still do woodworking? I hope so.

My husband made a doll house for our daughter, years ago too. But it is long gone. Not as fully set up, as yours is, though.

Oh my, I can't get my head around cleaning a tiny house like that though. And how precious, that your grandson helped!

Little ones do want to DO things! It is not work, to them. It is fun! We really should encourage this, while they are little. My thoughts, any way. :-)

    Gentle hugs and blessings,

  13. What a wonderful doll house! My fingers would be clumsy doing that also. I don't have good fine motor skills. That is quite a mask! Nancy
