Happy Monday

This space is where the dishwasher-that-often-failed-to rinse-dishes was.  I hadn't used it for many months because of its unpredictability so DH took it out and will be building a cupboard to fit the space. I've requested it be on casters, have 3 drawers, and if possible, a butcher block top.

The whole idea got me going organizing my cutlery drawer and getting rid of the excess. I really will never need 3 dozen forks, knives, etc.. So I had some fun stuff to do this Monday as well as the usual laundry.

Look at this unusual orange I got when I bought fruit and veggies for the week. . ( I'm easily impressed I guess.)

Thanks for visiting. Have a great week.

  1. Maybe it was crossed with a lime? Did it taste good? X Chy

  2. Hi! Is that orange ripe? Sounds like your new cupboard on wheels will be so handy and nice. Was thinking that would make a nice place for a desk also. Nancy

  3. I did some cleaning and sorting today too. It feels good, doesn't it? That orange looks like its mama mated with a lime! Very unusual!

  4. I have a cabinet where my dishwasher used to be...I love it. With it just being Mr D and I there's never many dishes to wash. I really needed the storage! The orange is very unique!!

  5. What? you are going without a dishwasher?!
    That is an orange oddity.

  6. When my dishwasher was removed we replaced it with shelves that I store all my pickles/preserves. A moveable piece of furniture sounds perfect.

  7. I've never used a dishwasher-so it wouldn't be missed around here!

That's a leaf "impression" on the orange---sunlight didn't hit it there to ripen it. It's pretty, isn't it?

  8. Your plans for your new cupboard sound great. By the way we have the same cabinets as you! We have used our dishwashers on and off over the years. Right now we are mostly using it but we wash all the glasses as this dishwasher doesn't seem to rinse them fully.
Looking forward to seeing your new cupboard!

  9. I've never had a dishwasher and never wanted one. Well, actually I HAD one in my last house, but never used it. It still had the owner's manual inside of it when I sold my place, lol. I like things quiet. Sounds like a nice unit your hubby is making!

  10. You could put a curtain on a tension rod and then people could hide there. I can't wait to see the cabinet!

  11. Oh I would be so excited about the new cupboard. I love changes like that. I've never owned a dishwasher but there have many times over the years that I wished for one...like at holidays when everyone is here and every dish in the house is dirty. That orange is really strange. Looks almost like a slice was taken out and replaced with a green one.

  12. Cool orange! I'm the opposite of one of your comments. We took an old dishwasher out after we had been here for a while. I stored my canning stuff, bags of sugar, jars etc in the empty space for years. Eventually we bought another dishwasher for $75 off Craigslist, which is still working great. Glad to have it now that there are four of us living here again, temporarily.

  14. I eliminated excess plates, glasses, etc.,too! It's silly for 2 people, to have a whole set of plates, stacked up in their cupboards! I agree.

Hooray for more shelf space, in place of the unused appliance, too! And your plans sound great.

Also great, to have a handy husband! I know, because mine is too. :-)

What an orange! Guess I will have to read your other comments, to see if anyone has any idea, how that happened. -grin-

  15. Since oranges are exposed to ethylene gas in order to "de-green" them, perhaps part of your orange was not exposed and therefore stayed green?
