Old Houses

Whenever I go to Suffern along the Erie track.
I never go by the empty house without stopping and looking back,
Yet it hurts me to look at the crumbling roof and the shutters fallen apart,
For I can't help thinking the poor old house
Is a house with a broken heart.

  1. Can you imagine what beautiful homes these were, back in the day? So sad to see them is such disrepair.

  2. I just adore old homes and often wonder how someone can just "walk away" from one. I know sometimes the owner died, but why was it just left to rot? So sad.

  3. Oh gorgeous old houses! I want to have a peek inside. We had to do some travelling today and I spotted a couple abandoned houses. Someone I was with didn't think it would be a good idea to stop and have a look around. Phooo!
    Have a good weekend!

  5. If only walls could talk, I think they would share many precious memories!

  6. Ohhhhhh.....

    Sighhhhhhh.....

    Oh I could cry!

Beautiful old houses. Left to go to ruin.

    So, so, so, so sad!

    It's almost a *crime*!

Don't even know what the last one, looked like. But the others, you can see how wonderful they must have looked, when taken care of.

    -sighhh-

  7. Wouldn't it be fun to restore one of those homes back to it's original beauty! The stories those homes could tell! Nancy

Yes, those photos are taken, out our back patio doors. Our back yard, and our son's back yard, "inside" the fences. With neighboring yards, beyond the fence.

And just-trees photos, are up higher, of surrounding trees.

Thank you. We do love our view, out our back patio doors!!!!!!
