Books

Last year I got this book from the library and I liked it so much I requested it again this year.
I enjoy Rosamunde Pilcher's books a lot and love to read about her childhood memories.

I always seem to be reading three books at a time and so I'll show you the other two I'm currently reading.   I'm still looking for my old copy Of Wind in the Willows because I know it has nicer illustrations.

This book is one I saw mentioned on the blog  Boyett-Brinkly and I'm very much enjoying it but it's not for the squeamish.  Sarah, the main character is one tough cookie and deals with some hard times.

For a change of pace I took out these very old Christmas carol booklets. I'm not sure why this picture came up sideways but it doesn't matter much.

Do you find time to read in the midst of all the things you have to do?

Thanks for visiting,   G.

  1. The first book that you mentioned looks like something I would enjoy. I'll have to see if I can find it. I'm not very good at books that are squeamish. :) But I am glad you are enjoying the last book. Your scones in the previous post look DELICIOUS! And the Doll House Christmas post is darling! Thank you for stopping by the blog and leaving me encouraging words. I left some there for you as well.

  2. Tom has a collection of illustrated "The Night Before Christmas" books, and I have other Christmas picture books that all come out for the month of December. I need to take some time to appreciate them again.

  4. Way back in the early 90's, driving to Raleigh to work every day, I listened to the audio book, "The Shell Seekers" by Rosamunde Pilcher. I remember loving it, but can't remember a lot about it now. That long drive was enjoyable because of all the audio books.

  5. I have been reading a little bit just before falling asleep, the book our women's reading group has chosen, the title of which I can't think of at the moment. And I read a lot of articles online! But this Christmas... I'm hoping to read some Christmas stories, at least on Christmas Eve!

  7. Hi, Granny Marigold! Yes, I am having a lovely time reading right now! I like your choice of books -- I love Rosamund Pilcher as well. Glad you are enjoying "These is My Words" but you are correct, it isn't for the squeamish. I couldn't imagine having children in the situations she desscribes. Frightening. I used to have a copy of Wind in the Willows but I don't know what happened to it. I might have to acquire another. I think I am going to start the year off some classics -- I am sure I have shocked Pom Pom when I told her I have never read Anne of Green Gables. I think I need to mend my ways!

  10. Since I've read all my books I've acquired second hand, (some were 10 for $1), we headed off to the library the other night, and came home with a bag full. I quickly ditched the first one I started, but am well into the second. I can always find time to read. As a kid I used to read in the bathtub and while I was drying the dishes. I think I'd enjoy the 'These is my words' book.
