Birds

Just a degree above freezing this morning and not a cloud in sight. We've been enjoying a stretch of this weather and DIL and the grands went walking by the lake yesterday taking pictures.
She took some great photos of the Eagles, the female Common Merganser, and a hawk (possibly Redtail?).

We saw the Cape May Warbler again and 2 others that look a lot like it. I wonder if they'll stay around and if they do will they be able to survive the winter. Not many bugs around for them to eat.

It's actually nice enough outside for me to go putter in the garden.
I tell myself January is almost  half gone!
Soon we'll be able to notice longer daylight.

Thanks for coming by,  GM

  1. Wonderful photos of the eagles! We have been enjoying the blue skies and birds too. Tom has been getting a lot of pruning done in the garden.

  2. So did you go putter in your garden? I am astounded at times that we live in the same country but have such a totally different climate...puttering in my garden would mean I would have to clear a whole lot of snow drifts first, lol. Like you, I am looking forward to longer daylight. Gorgeous photos of the birds!

  8. What I wouldn't give to see such wonderful sights as those gorgeous Bald Eagles on my walks. Just beautiful! All of them are. And thank you for reminding me that the last picture was a Cape May Warbler. I thought at first glance that it was a Goldfinch.

  9. I think I would faint if I saw eagles that close and still.

  10. I saw the article in the newspaper about the warbler. Neat that you have seen it! I wonder if that is a breeding pair of eagles, great pics. We are noticing the longer days already, as we do a dog walk around the block in the late afternoon. Have also been enjoying this somewhat Spring like weather, with a fair bit accomplished in the garden the last few days. My kind of January weather!

  11. Awesome pictures of the eagles. We have a lot here also but my camera is just a little point and shoot. Not enough zoom to capture photos such as these beautiful ones. I have never seen a common Merganser nice effect with the reflection. It is cold and too icy here for walking. We are expected to have a snowstorm Sunday so gardening is a long way off for us! Have a great day.

  12. Hi GM! I'm glad it's getting warmer. I am getting ready to go see my mom and sibs next week. I hope I see an eagle or two. I usually do.

  13. Yes, soon it will be light longer! Today and tomorrow are to be warm, and I'll also be out in the garden some ... I hope. Then it turns cold again for a few days. Your birds are very handsome!!
