Yesterday

For various reasons yesterday was a hard day for me. I asked my DH if he'd take me to the nursery so I could buy myself some flowers to cheer myself up. We went to the early, seniors only, shopping and were practically the only ones in the store. First I chose this cheery bunch of Mums...

Then I bought some cute daffodils ( .99 each, who could resist?) and on the left in the wooden box are 2 parsley plants that will eventually be planted outside.

Next I chose a lavender, basil, carnation and a red geranium. In front from the left the first pot is a hot pepper, a pot of white daffodils just coming into bud a tiny rosemary and a tomato plant.  Apparently the tomatoes will be so dark maroon that they look black. Interesting!  By this time I was quite cheered up so we came home to wash our hands thoroughly and continue our day.

We got home from our walk this morning just in time to avoid getting pelted with hail.  Now I will make up for my lazy day yesterday and do some much needed dusting.

Thanks for visiting,

Stay well,

G.M.

  1. Going to the garden shops cheer me up, too, even if I can't buy anything it's fun to see what they have! I'll be interested to see how your tomatoes turn out -- my dad always tried new tomato varieties when he was alive, and I do now too. We got pelted by gale force winds all night and some sleet.... just after having several days of mid-70s! Supposed ot be back in the 70s and 80s next week - woohoo! Have a lovely and blessed weekend!

  3. How good you could go out and shop for flowers and herbs and veggies, that is a real spirit lifter for me too. Hail! What an opposite feel to your collection of plants that are wanting warm weather. It will arrive.

  5. What a hail for the dear flowerfriend! But I beklieve, that the flowers did not get any hail. So stay sheltered ,dear Granny Marigold, no hail shall do any harm to you and to your dears!

  6. It looks like you found some beautiful plants. You're lucky. Our nurseries aren't open, (to my knowledge.) Home Depot and Lowes has a few plants, but a friend who went it to get a part for their kitchen sink checked what was available and apparently it wasn't much. We are rarely able to plant anything until Mid May anyway so hopefully things will be better by then.
Meanwhile, I'll enjoy looking at your beautiful flowers and plants.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I think we can go to Home Depot still, so I will want to go check on getting some plants soon, too. It's plant lust season.

  11. I can see how your flowers cheered you up! We are having winter here again — for a day — then it will be summer again. I don’t know how this virus lives with the peculiar weather we are having!

  12. It sounds like your trip to the nursery was just what was needed. Tending to plants and enjoying their beauty can do so much to help our moods, I think. I resorted to ordering 2 shrubs online. I can't wait to plant them this weekend.

  13. I think we all need to take a day off occasionally to keep ourselves sane, and what better way to do it than buy some plants :)
All our garden shops are closed, but we can now buy seeds online which is helping a few people. I sometimes wonder who is looking after all the plants left in the shops, hopefully someone has been able to do so. Stay happy, Mxx

  16. That was just the thing to lift your soul, I imagine, to go to the nursery!! My neighbor did the same. I am not so adventurous. But puttering about the garden was really good for me. Now we are in for a few days of rain, so I maybe will blog about the garden. ;-)

  19. Sorry you had a down day, GM, but glad you got flowers to make you happy! I think many of us are having more emotional fluctuation now than we usually do -- real ups and downs that can be confusing if you're not used to them. I'm giving myself LOTS of grace to do nothing, or much, depending on my mood. Much love your way!
