It has happened again. We went to Walmart and I got out of the truck, looked down at my feet and behold!! I was still wearing my slippers. Fortunately they are black suede and with my black slacks they were not terribly noticeable, but really! Dear Husband asked me what I would have done if I'd been wearing my pink slippers with fur. My answer? I'd go straight to the shoe department and buy some shoes, pay for them, then wear them as I continued my shopping.
A pretty bouquet of flowers for the table.
What do you think of the trend of having open shelving in the kitchen?
pictures from the internet.
In my opinion this trend makes a lot more work because you'd have to keep it very neat and orderly not to mention how dusty the dishes would get. That said, I do like the look of the second kitchen. The cupboards in pale green and the white counter top make it seem very calm and peaceful. Let me know what you think.
It's a little less sunny today and the furnace ran for a while first thing in the morning. Lovely for walking ( if you were wearing a jacket).
Thanks for coming by.
I love the idea of an open kitchen, it looks so stylish......BUT! The dusting!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE open shelves and would love to have a home where I could have a "farmhouse kitchen" with open shelves. That will probably never happen for me, but one can dream. Linda imagesisee.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOpen shelving looks great in a magazine, but I don't think it is realistic for everyday use. I do like the way it looks though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny event with your shoes! I love this story! :)
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen with open shelving are very nice. I like them all and the different bowls. But its not easy to keep them always so perfect like on the photos..
I just came back from an afternoon walk and though the sun didn't really come out, I did have to remove my long sleeve fleece when I got too warmed up. This morning Tom and I did a lot more pruning and hacking back. I think we are almost done with that now.
ReplyDeleteOne day I wore one brown shoe and one black shoe to work...no one noticed or if they did they didn't say anything. I have open shelves in the kitchen and you are right they get dusty but I try to use the top plates!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of open shelving for the same reasons you mentioned. I like my things behind closed doors...and even then, I'm surprised at how dusty the shelves get. I like the cheerfulness of the second kitchen...I think the yellow curtains do a lot to add the cheer.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think I would like the open shelving....it looks too busy for me and I wouldn't want to be dusting and straightening all the time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bouquet 💐 of flowers. And I love the kitchen in the photos.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the open shelving in many Landmark Trust holiday cottages. They are lovely for a week... and then we go back home to proper cupboards!
ReplyDeleteI had the carpenter put glass on the front of my cabinets...but a big no to the open concept...but your photos are beautiful!

I love the idea of the kitchen, but very dusty! I have one shelf only for decorative plates and tea pots, but lots of of dusting
ReplyDeleteI would not like for everyday plates, glades… my kitchen is pale green.
Nice flower bouquet!
( feeling a little better today thank you)
I have never been one that takes off my shoes when I enter the house, but I've started to try and develop this habit especially during this time of the year when I'm working out in the garden and my feet get dirtier than usual. Sometimes I find myself heading to the garden in my slippers and have to go back to the house. Then there are times I come in the house and I have to go potty so bad that I don't take the time to take off my dirty shoes. Old habits are hard to break.
ReplyDeleteAs for open shelves in the kitchen. I do not like the new kitchens that are all open shelves but I do like having just a small amount to show off my pretty things, the things I don't use often. When it comes to my dishes that I use all the time I want them behind closed doors away from dust, always clean and always ready to eat out of. I wouldn't want the clutter of everything out in the open, it would give me a sense of claustrophobia and a messy kitchen. My kitchen is a place for preparing food and not a Showplace. But, that's just my opinion.
I can just picture you wandering through Walmart in your pink furry slippers!
ReplyDeleteI like the open shelving but would like a mixture of both.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky that all the events so far have been well attended.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of open shelving but I don't think it is very practical. It wouldn't work for me but maybe a few shelves would be ok.
