Thursday Chit Chat

A third Amaryllis has opened. This one is Red Lion and I think is one of my favourites; it certainly is DH's.   As a rule he doesn't pay much attention to my house plants but when the Amaryllis bloom, especially the red ones, he notices. We're having some days of sunshine and I keep the blind down far enough to keep the flowers in the shade.

On this day in 1913 Dora Saint was born. We who love her books know her as Miss Read.
( Her pseudonym was derived from her mother's maiden name.)

Happy Birthday, Miss Read.

I'm looking forward to going to buying  some plants this weekend. We'll go early because I have the feeling many others will have the same idea and  I avoid crowds if at all possible.

 Thanks for popping by

  1. Oh! The amaryllis are gorgeous. Can't wait to see what other plants you bring home. Wise words from Maya Angelou!

  2. You certainly have a great thumb with house plants. What gorgeous flowers!
I need to go buy plants too. I mean, I really need to! Larry would disagree, but maybe next week, if I am good to go.

Oh I love that cartoon about you having enough plants! Isn't that true of all of us. Also love the reminder about Dora Saint...I read almost all of her Miss Read books and loved them. Wishing you and yours a very Blessed Easter. We are off to church now for Holy Thursday services. Take care.

  6. Oh what a beauty! I am sure the Red Lion would be my favorite too. I also love the Maya Angelou quote! Awhile back, because of your recommendation, I ordered a Miss REad book but haven't gotten into it yet.

  7. These Ammarilides are wonderful!!
    A very good idea
for both you and the employee to go to the store when it is not very crowded,
that way you are served better!!

  8. I used to call Miss Read books 'paperback valium ' - perfect for when I needed to 'untwizzle' myself. Mr Willett in the books used to earth up his celery plants when he was all twizzled up.

  16. Beautiful flowers. The Red really shows up nicely. I don't have a green thumb for indoor plants at all, so am envious of you. I do ok with my outdoor flower beds, but inside.........not good. Loved the meme with someone holding you back from buying more plants, very cute, made me smile. I'm not familiar with those books, will have to check them out.
