Monday morning and the sun is shining💗. Laundry is well under way and I've been outside pulling some weeds and getting other such jobs done. Not that they're ever Done. Yesterday was very hot at 32C which is about 90F. Too warm for comfort especially since we don't have central A/C.
Mustn't complain. My DH tells me that this is what I was waiting for, wasn't it? The answer is that I was indeed waiting for Spring and Summer but not necessarily for 30+ temps.
This must be pantry moth season because we see them almost daily. The sticky traps work well fortunately. I dread the thought of them getting into my pantry.
I did some baking knowing the hot weather was coming. Muffins, also made cherry jam (using frozen cherries).
This area is one of the main blueberry growing areas in the province, maybe even the country. Blueberry farmers are getting rid of last years berries to free up freezer room for the new ones. We got a good deal on 20 lbs of berries @1.60 a lb. That will do us for the coming year although we will get some later to enjoy fresh.
I'm sure by now both the washer and dry are ready for me to deal with.I better get going.
I did want to reassure those who hoped DH was okay after the traffic circle accident. He's fine and the truck will also be fine once the crunched panel has been replaced. It shouldn't take more than 10 days
(hopefully.)
.
Thanks for stopping by.
So glad to hear that you husband is ok after the accident. The cherry jam sounds delicious. You got a great deal on the blueberries.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy that the sticky traps work for you! Your baked items look delicious! The cherry jam as well! I am 68 years old and have never made my own jam, would you believe? My mother didn't either. I kind of wish she did, I would have loved to see canning and preserving. Thank you so much for sharing, I really enjoy and appreciate your posts.
ReplyDeleteOnly one time did I get moths in my pantry, after that I knew I never wanted that to happen ever again. Hope you get them first😊.
ReplyDeleteYou had a prosperous Monday thus far, plus a blog post!
We are lucky to have AC, it helps when it gets really hot and humid. You get the best fruits!
ReplyDeleteI'm glas Dh is ok.
ReplyDeleteThat was a real bargain with the blueberries!
Good to hear your man is okay.
ReplyDeleteIt's been hot here too, in the 80s and occasionally hitting 90. I hate hate hate it. I never wanted to live in the South, and I wish they would take their heat back.
Good looking muffins, and what a deal on the berries!
That does sound pretty hot. Nothing near that here!! Good price on the berries.
ReplyDeleteSummer here also is coming warm and hot and bright after several days of useful rain for the forest. This Monday we had Pentecost- Festival (Sunday and Monday). Moths in the kitchen are really no good friends! I'm sure, your muffins and berries make all your family-members happy!
ReplyDeleteGreat price on the blueberries. The state of Maine grows some wonderful blueberries commercially. They are the small ones always sweet and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe were nice yesterday but today hazy from Candian fires and cold. Rain for tomorrow.

Glad you hubby is okay!! No a/c, WoW.....if we didn't have it I'm sure we would move north, way north. lol
ReplyDeleteWe stopped making jams as now with just the two of us always watching what we eat, we didn't eat it all.. but loved doing it for years.
ReplyDeleteThe temperatures here for this week are to be in the high 80s F. I really enjoy 70 degrees F. :)
ReplyDeleteYour muffins and cherry jam look delicious! Am glad you were able to get your blueberries. We had blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning.
So glad that your husband is okay after the accident.
I'm glad your husband is not injured. I have been praying for him. We're back home now. I wasn't able to tolerate the heat and humidity at Mammoth Cave so we came home a couple of days early. I'm happy to be home in the AC though.
ReplyDeleteYour baking and the berries look delicious. Wise woman for baking early.
Blessings and love,
Betsy
These coming days it will be hot here too over 30 C. Muffins and cherry 🍒 jam is very good!
ReplyDeleteHad last year's blueberries already been frozen then?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the warm days and now it's cool again. But better for working in the garden. The muffins look good. Our blueberry bushes are bursting with berries and will soon ripen. I still have berries in the freezer from last year. Time to make muffins here!
