Mostly about Flowers

Daylight is falling earlier and earlier.  The Autumn evenings are no longer a busy time of watering after the heat of the day. I think we reached 25C by mid afternoon but it didn't seem overly warm.
The moon tonight is that dark orange that it gets when the air is full of smoke.  Still 3 days until full moon. That should be quite a sight.

The Sedum 'Autumn Joy' is slowly changing colour.

...

This bee was so intent on its task at hand that I was able to get so close to it and it didn't fly away.

Sedum 'Postman's Pride' has completely coloured up. I like the raspberry colour of it.
Not only are its flowers a different colour its leaves are also slightly different from those of
Autumn Joy.

Japanese Anemone "September Charm" is still looking good in spite of losing flowers as they age.

Under a rugosa rose in a most inconvenient corner there is a Japanese anemone  which I think is 'Party Doll'. There used to be a clump of them but they are not as hardy nor do they hold themselves up the way Sept Charm do.

That's it for today. Thanks for coming by.

  5. Your flowers are always so beautiful! I have a Sedum that a friend of mine gave me when she moved, but I guess I didn't realize that they come in different varieties like other flowers. I love mine! And our Anemone is really showing itself right now. Somehow a slip of it escaped and ended at the end of our deck and it is just as lovely as the ones in the flowerbed.

  6. The sedum is so pretty. Mine is in the wrong place, gets all leggy. I need to move it. The deer also like to munch on it but that's not been an issue so far this year. My young dogs see to that!

I just went to have a look at our Sedum it is usually big, but with the heat and dryness we had it is miserable! 🙁

  9. Sedums provide lovely fall colour. I once had a Japanese Anemone, perhaps the September Charm you show, but it disappeared after a year or so. They are such pretty flowers.

  13. Lovely photos of your garden. Yes, fall weather is definitely here with the shorter days and the risk of frost yet again. Beside all of the autumn decor at Dollarama, today I saw that Dollarama is putting out their Christmas stuff already!!!!

  14. I was just talking to my daughter today about planting some Japanese anemones in another part of my garden. I have white ones where it seems to be a little too shady. I'd like some pink ones, and have a place in mind where they might like the environment. I've never seen anything like the Party Doll ones -- that seems like a good name for them. The September Charm are a very nice color; I think it might be the type we have a lovely planting of at church. Maybe I should ask the current gardener if those have multiplied enough for me to take some divisions from them :-)

  15. We have finally had rain showers this week, but not in time to save my flowers. Those still blooming in September are to be cherished.
