Cold Weather and Small Changes

All of Canada is experiencing colder than normal temperatures as a Polar Vortex has descended from the North Pole.  Of course here on the west coast our cold is nothing compared to the prairies and East coast where frigid temperatures are bone-chilling ( think wind chills of  minus 40 C which is the same as -40F ).

The sun is shining again today.  In spite of the cold Youngest Son came to wash some of the outside windows as well as the sky lights. The sunshine is lovely but one can certainly see how dirty the windows are when the sun shines.

When I opened the back door to give Kitty her breakfast I was greeted not by Kitty but by a raccoon. I chased him off and fed her but barely had gone back in when he was there again. I suppose he was very hungry but to feed one raccoon would soon have every raccoon in the area in our yard wanting food.

I decided to change the things on the old sewing machine.  This is the 'before' picture.....

...and this is what it looks like now.  Small changes. Next I'll get out some Valentine decor. It's not that long any more.

Thanks for visiting

  2. Ah - you alsohave very cold clear weather ***** We here in the Bavarian Forest, too *****
I'm happy, that we here in my region don't have racoons, but they come nearer and nearer. They really are naughty!
Fine, that your son is helping you cleaning the windows******

  3. I enjoyed seeing your changes to the decor. Sometimes we just need a small change to boost our mood.
It was -21F this morning with the windchill. Love the photo at the top of your post. It's very appropriate for this week isn't it?
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  4. Dear friend, I love ❤️ the illustration of the kittens 😸 dressed up for the cold 🥶 weather. Yes, it is already very cold here in Montreal and tomorrow it is expected to be minus 35 Celsius with the wind.
    Stay warm and safe.

  5. My mother had an antique sewing cabinet like that, painted red. Another brown one was in her bedroom, covered with bits and bobs, like yours. Its fun to change things around in our homes.

  6. Your area on the table looks pretty. True about the racoons. There's one guy on YouTube who feeds many, many of them. On his back deck. Very cold here. We will need to leave the water running tonight. What's nice is, it's the weekend and we don't have to leave if we don't want to. Roads are ice anyway.

  8. Yes, It's almost time for Heart Month. It will be the anniversary of my heart valve replacement and time for another echocardiogram.
Thinking of love and Valentines is more fun.

  9. Love that calendar page.
Isn't it funny how changing up decor makes a room look so much fresher?
How nice to gave your son stop by to help with tasks like that. You raised him right.

  11. I'm rather enjoying this clear cold weather. It's not very cold compared to much of Canada. Sunny days always highlight streaky or dirty windows. I'm glad your son is helping.

  16. Hi GM! Your sewing table is a very pretty in and of itself. I do like to also change out decorations for the seasons. I'm not much on Valentines Day, but will be ramping up for the Shamrocks, and things I've made over the years for St. Patrick's day and of course Easter too. Snowing & bitter cold here in NE Ohio.

  18. I love the decor on the sewing machine; both the before and after. How sweet of your son to clean the outside windows, especially in those cold temperatures.
