We walked in thick fog; everything looked spooky. Beside the path where the lake should have been was just fog. We heard an Eagle call and we stared up at the trees until we spotted the dark spot that was it.
Came home, had coffee, then off to the thrift store to spend a little time before we were meeting DH's brothers and sister-in-laws for an early lunch. DH told them I was in my second childhood because I had bought a doll at the thrift shop. I don't mind the joking. If I like something and it's inexpensive, well, then I buy it. I took it along to the restaurant to show my SILs and to my surprise one of them recognized it as an American Girl, a special collection kind of doll??? Apparently I got a super deal
( I paid $5 )
Her hair definitely need fixing. When Eldest Daughter comes tomorrow I'm sure she'll have some way to tame that frizzy head of hair.
Have a lovely Thursday

You got a very good deal, what a lovely doll. The hair can be combed somehow.
ReplyDeleteI like your new doll I have a doll and teddy bears myself the doll coming from a thrift store. Your courageous to go walking in the foggy weather!
ReplyDeleteYou really rescued this sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteThe quote at the end is very good and important!

ReplyDeleteI have read they use fabric softener
ReplyDeleteTo soften and smooth dolls hair.
She's a cutie.

This made me laugh !! I love dolls and search for them often. I know I'm elderly in age, but still young at heart. I love your doll, what a great find. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteYour life sounds peaceful. I like that.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy going to thrift stores. You never know what you are going to find.
ReplyDeleteYou did get a good deal on your sweet new doll. She'll be perfect once her hair is tamed. Kind of like mine, but I'll never be perfect! Ha! We've had a few of those foggy days too but today is bright and sunny. I've been working on a pile of things for the thrift shop. Hopefully I'll get through the remaining dresser and closet and drop of a few bags next week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
I think the inner child in all of us loves those dolls. I often pick mine up to cuddle it. Makes being alone not so lonely
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your very good purchase.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan

ReplyDeleteI love to thrift and you found a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember that doll's name but they were a hot thing in their day, and I bet they are very collectible today.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly got a bargain on the doll! At the moment, I am purging and bringing alot to the thrift store so I dare not enter lest I bring home more treasures to fill my emptier shelves and closets, lol.

I do love a good book and a good cup of coffee too. Sounds like you got a great deal on the doll. Good for you. So it's fun to shop at thrift stores? We are always dropping things off there, but never seem to shop there. Maybe some day.
ReplyDeletefabric softener will help your doll's hair and plaiting will keep it tidy. Hope she's happy in her new home :)
ReplyDeleteFog and eagles have been seen here, too. You always find the most interesting things at the thrift store.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize from the newer post that you bought an American Girl doll. You definitely got a great price for her. Now I am even more thrilled that your daughter was able to fix her hair.
ReplyDeleteI started collecting a few dolls when my children were grown up, and especially when my granddaughters were spending time here. Then I inherited the dolls of my youngest, because I couldn't bear to give (most of) them away. Then, family members started giving me dolls! I still have an American Girl doll here, that belonged to my youngest. I think she is Felicity. My great-granddaughter played with her at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYes, you got a good deal. Now I'll go read the next post about her hair washing...
