Happy Wednesday

The week is half gone already.  I have been busy doing some housework this morning and also making a list for tomorrow's grocery shopping.  While I was looking in the pantry and fridge  to see what we might need I noticed some ingredients that have been lurking in there for too long. After seeing this recipe ( below) just yesterday I decided I'd make something similar using what I had on hand. Into the blender I dropped the rest of an 8 oz block of cream cheese ( there was about half of it left), a can of condensed milk ( left from Christmas), and a can of frozen lemonade concentrate that has been in the freezer for a very long time (Why oh why did I buy that?) .I had to add some water to make it easier for the blender but in the end it got everything nicely mixed. Into 10 small dishes I put about a Tbsp of graham crumbs then topped them with the creamy mixture. The portions are small but so rich that they don't need to be bigger.  I'm quite pleased with the result.

Another item I was looking at last night was this list that someone posted about tips for keeping the house neat and tidy. If I had to choose only three tips that I consider most important in my house I think I'd choose the first three.  Which do you rank as best of these  tips?  Or maybe you'd add a different tip. I'd love to hear it.

That's about all for today.   Thank you for coming by!!

  1. I love making something out of what is on hand in the pantry, frig and freezer. I do that a lot, my sweet husband used to say, "This is so good, let's have it again" and I would reply "probably not, because having these leftover items in these amounts may never happen again", LOL.
As for your list I do all of them pertaining to the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom as a daily thing. I usually only do my floors (mopping and vacuuming) once a week, unless company is coming or Beulah tracks in mud :) I'm very blessed to have a dog breed that doesn't shed 🐕

  2. The third one made me smile because it’s always been that way in our home. It was a surprise when we moved to the U.S. for a few years to find that it wasn’t the norm for many folks there.

  3. I do most all of the tidy items on the list all of the time, except my husband will wear his shoes in the house. Drives me nuts. The lemon desserts look wonderful. I am a big fan of lemon flavors.

  7. The week does seem to fly by.

I enjoyed reading the 12 tidy tips.
I always like to tidy up in the kitchen as I go.
I know some folks who leave everything and then have a good tidy up at the end of the day but that doesn't work for me!

Have a happy Thursday and Friday.

    All the best Jan

  8. I make a similar pie that has become a family favorite. My recipe doesn't call for the pudding mix and I substitute 1/2 cup lemon juice for the frozen concentrate.
I don't consider myself a great house keeper but looking at that list there are a number of things I always do.

  9. That dessert sounds so light and tasty!
Your list has quite a few things I do, although I never really think about it, in just do it. Evening tidy-up, making the bed, wiping up the bathroom and kitchen as I go, starting laundry in the morning while making tea... I won't do the basket one though, as I bet it would tend to just meet full and never get emptied! I don't even have a laundry basket, just carry the clean laundry directly to the bedroom and sort it immediately. Works for us, no basket waiting to be dealt with.

  10. The pie looks delicious and it's always great to use up bits and pieces. The 12 tips for a clean house seem sensible to me. I think I'd choose 2, 3, 9 and 10 as my top four. Number three is just the way we live, doesn't take much effort to take off shoes at the door.

  11. always love your posts. I wanted to comment on the Tidy in Chaos but my eyes are getting so bad, I could barely make out the article. Sorry. Pie looks delicious.

  12. A speed mop is on my list. I have to be careful as our kitchen floor is vinyl tiles laid on suspended wood floor, and I risk water getting into the floorboards if my mop is too wet.
The one-minute rule rule is a good one!

  14. I also have a similar pie recipe. It was from Luby's here in Texas. Didn't call for cream cheese or pudding, very basic. I should make it, I have a jar of lemons in my fridge! I do a kitchen reset each night before bed and its lovely to make a pot of coffee in a clean kitchen each morning.

  15. If you do #5, then that would likely take care of #2. I think my top three would be 3, 5 and 9, not necessarily in that order.

  16. The mini lemonade pies that you made sound delicious. The tidy tips are great. I do most of them except clean floors, vacuum often. We don't wear shoes indoors so the floors stay fairly clean with just the two of us. A once a week cleaning usually does it for us. I always clean up in the kitchen as I go. It keeps clean up much easier for afterwards.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
