Monday Chit Chat

Good Morning on this damp February day.  Valentine's Day is coming up and although we hardly make any fuss about it it also happens to be #2 son's birthday. We will celebrate that.

A recent trip to the thrift store yielded a few small treasures.  A set of home made mug rugs which I soon found had lumpy filling that kept my cup from sitting solidly. I carefully opened one side and shook out whatever was in there. No doubt it used to be scented and the heat from any cup would activate it.  Now that they are flat I'll use them all year 'round since they are reversible ( Christmas/winter and plain check).

It was a sunny day on Saturday and Kitty found a lovely spot to absorb the warmth of the roof. This is one of her favourite spots....near the kitchen window where she can watch me as I putter about.

By now the washer has finished the load of sheets so I'll see if I can manage to untangle them enough so I can take them out. The washer does do a good job of winding them together :(

I hope your week is off to a good start.    Thanks for coming by.

  1. Cute fabrics in the mug rugs. Nice that they are reversible and can be used year round.

  2. A good friend was born on Valentines day. She always got tons of cards (birthday) but said one mailman commented on how popular she was.

  3. An early Happy Birthday to your #2 Son. I'm glad to know that someone else has problems with their laundry getting wound around in the washer. It doesn't make for an easy exit of the item for sure.

  4. I like the vintage valentines. Kind of my era, I think.
Sheets are out of the drier, folded and put away. Laundry is laundering. Tom i s vacuuming. Olympic ice skating in on the tv. The sun is shining through the window. Yes, it's a good day, with a bit of a Super Bowl hangover, from the tension, not the beverages. :-)

  5. Really funny sets for cups! Kitty has such a good home - she looks very content and free. And she has a color like the Chinese Yin-Yang - Black-With. Valentinsday is a beautiful date for birthday ********

  6. Cats! I saw where a neighbor's cats had been up on his roof too. Funny that your likes to watch you work.
The coasters are pretty. Aren't you smart to open them.up and empty out the old pot pourri! That's probably why their former owner ditched them, not being clever enough to simply fix the problem.

And the Valentine illustrations you are sharing bring me back to my childhood! Back in the 60's (I was born in 1956) these are what children's Valentines looked like! Great memories!
Thank you so much for sharing.

  11. What a good idea to remove the lumpy filling from the coasters. You find so many cute things at the thrift store.
