Baby Geese and a Strange Creature

7C this morning  with a mix of sun and cloud.  I think we'll have another pleasant day. Showers are expected for tomorrow though.  Our sunrise was at 5:55.

Yesterday ( Sunday) we walked at Fish Trap Creek and saw the first goslings of the season!!   No papa goose was present which was unusual.  Mama was careful to keep her family some distance from us.

As we walked around the park we noticed this strange dead tree. To me it looked like some mythical creature.

So today ushers in the last few days of the month.  We gained one hour and 40 minutes of daylight in April.

Thank you for all the lovely comments about my Amaryllis. Once the night time temperatures stay above 10C (50F)  I'll move them onto the porch and continue watering and feeding them until about mid August when I quit that, They slowly dry up and become dormant. That's when I move them into a cool darkish area and ignore them for about 5 months. Then I take a few at a time to the sunroom, give them a good soaking, and wait for leaves or flower stalks to appear.  It seems to work fairly well.

Thanks for coming by.

PS    About the Impossible pie. The last slice finally got eaten today.
Dear Husband said it wasn't THAT bad. :))

  1. I'm catching up.
Your amaryllis are beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial on how to keep them over and get them to rebloom.
I'm not near any water fowl so it's nice to see that the babies have arrives and the cycle of life is continuing.

  3. WoW, that really does look like a mythical creature. Kinda eerie for sure. The little goslings are so cute, Momma is taking good care of them.

  9. Amaryllis require good attention and you obviously give it to yours. They are beautiful. Funny about the tree. Maybe it knows the dragon tree in NC :)

  10. That tree certainly does look like a creature of some sort. If you happened upon it in the dark it could be scary! That last. meme is spot on. The world is a scary place these days but God's beautiful creation calms my soul.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

This Mama goose with babies is adorable. Hope she will be successful - even without Papa goose . .
The impossible pie was possible! Good :)

  14. The geese are a pleasure to see with their family. I only see them flying overhead around here.

  15. Your "mythical creature" tree is quite spectacular! Straight out of a fantasy genre novel - I love it! The goslings sure are cute but it's wise to stay far away from Mama!

  16. Sweet little ones! But where was Daddy? Maybe he two-timed her and has another family!
Hmmm, that's why I no longer have an amaryllis. I would forget all those steps for sure. Definitely not a houseplants person, although I used to be.
So funny about the pie! Men are not as discerning, often, when it comes to food.
And yes, that most certainly is a mythical creature. Now I wonder what its bame is.
