Flowers and Magazines

Sunshine this morning 11C .  We saw more goose families while on our walk.

I want to do indoor chores this morning and spend the afternoon outside.  That's my plan so I'll see if it comes to pass :)

I sowed Morning Glories in peat pots to give them a head start.  I'll plant them out once the nights are a little less chilly.

I found out that this mystery plant is actually common Oregano which has next to no flavour whatsoever. It will go into the compost and I'll look for a better variety when I next visit the plant shop.

The lilacs are in full bloom now. There are white ones as well as this lighter purple and a dark one given to us years ago by a lovely lady who has since gone on to her reward.

We dropped off a few boxes at the thrift store yesterday. I did a quick browse and found some magazines that I'll keep on the porch for when I have nothing to do but sit and read  LOL
It doesn't matter to me if a magazine is older.  What matters is that I'm paying  far less than the cost of a new one. Daphne's Diary has the original price right on it....$25.  in Canada.

I better get going here.  Thanks for visiting.

  1. I love the Birds and Blooms magazine. I also loved Reminisce magazine which sadly is no longer around.
    Lilacs are gorgeous and fragrant.
Unfortunately they don't live long here in Montreal due to our hot and humid summers. They dry up so quickly.
Thank you so much for sharing.

  3. The lilacs are such pretty colors. Too bad about the oregano, though. I look forward to following your process with the marigolds.

  4. How lucky to have found a "Daphne's Diary" magazine and yes, I agree, the price of new magazines is prohibitive! Your lilacs are gorgeous though I can't quite envision lilacs in bloom here yet. We woke up to a layer of snow this morning tho' it has melted by now.

  9. Those magazine titles are new to me. The idea of having a few in your porch is such a good one; all I have to to now is build a porch to sit and read in!

  12. This is funny and very true: An elder magazin just is cheeper than a new one but not better! Xaver always was reading the newspaper from one month before. Enjoy your plants and flowers, and enjoy everything you do! Greetings to the ducks!

  16. Our lilacs are beginning to bloom under our bedroom window. It smells heavenly. Usually it's closer to the end of May but it's been a crazy spring. We could have freezing temps over the weekend!
    Blessings and hugs,
