Around the Neighbourhood

We continue to enjoy lovely Summer weather.  By noon it's too warm to do much outside so I'm doing some organizing and tidying.  Since there's not much to blog about I thought I'd show you a few of the houses recently built, ones we walk past when we go walking.

The first one is different from most because the exterior is all concrete  including window trim.  DH worked in construction almost all his working years so he was interested in the way this house was being built.. I believe the owners have moved in now. If there would have been an Open House I would have loved to see the inside.
This is the side view...

 ...and this is the front.

A less interesting house but no doubt very roomy.

I like what the exterior of this  one is made of... stone? or ashlar?

More houses.

Almost every one of these homes will have multiple generations living in them (as does ours although ours is much smaller and humbler ) In fact it was in June 2006 that Middle Son and his wife and 3 year old daughter moved in here to share this house.  It was a decision we have certainly not regretted.

If you're still here I thank you for visiting and I hope your day is going along pleasantly!!

  2. Certainly a variety of house styles. They look quite large which might be lovely to look at but I wouldn't be as excited about cleaning all that space!

  3. None of those houses is a style that one would see in my neck of the woods. They seem more substantial to the ones my neighbors and I live in. Thanks for the glimpses of your home town.

  4. I think it's lovely to think of multiple generations sharing the same house. Dame Judi Dench and her husband Michael Williams were able to both continue their acting careers after their daughter aas born because of the grandparents living with them.

  5. Beautiful homes. Sometimes I wonder why, in many cities across Greece after the war, there was not a greater effort to preserve the traditional style and character through thoughtful urban planning. So many places could have retained their unique identity and charm while still adapting to modern life.

  6. I really enjoying seeing your neighborhood. Such beautiful homes and I can't imagine living in any of them. The older I get, the more I like compact and livable. I do not want to have to clean anything that big. It's great that you have family living with you. Company and care too if we need it as we grow older.
    Blessings and Love,

  7. Dear friend, thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos of your walk.
The weather here in Montreal has been gorgeous the last few days, a refreshing change from the heat 🥵 and humidity.
Sunny, partly cloudy ⛅️ breezy and comfortable in the upper 60s to 70s.

  10. These are interesting. Not anything like most houses around here. I don't even know what ashlar is.
I didn't realize your son and his family lived with you. That must be nice!

  12. Wow! The first house pictured is quite interesting and grand! It looks as if there has been a lot of new housing being built in your area. Things have slowed down around here in that regard, and I am guessing it has to do with the economy right now. And I love your new header and the new blog background. Both are lovely.

  13. Hi GM! I'm just back from vacation and getting caught up on my favorite blogs. I apologize in advance for all the comments! Those are some lovely homes in your neighborhood. I imagine my mom will live with us some day...at least I hope so. Multigenerational living is becoming more common.
