My daughter used it on a couple of orchids she inherited from her mother-in-law, but ... she killed them. So maybe not the ice cube method.M.K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09205619221345704689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580372117701042127.post-60921492107860168872019-09-09T08:49:38.138-07:002019-09-09T08:49:38.138-07:00Very pretty! I have ...I love orchids, but I have never had one. I have a feeling that you will do well with your new little plant. I finally got around to watching YouTube videos of Hannah Hauxwell, and wow, did I ever love her. Now, I just must find the book. I think there may be more than one book about her. She reminded me a great deal of my grandmother, so I choked back a few tears now and then. Thank you for sharing the information about her.Hill Top Posthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12417478558713036325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580372117701042127.post-60988828119300699822019-09-08T13:57:59.787-07:002019-09-08T13:57:59.787-07:00I understood what you meant about the books, ha ha...I understood what you meant about the books, ha ha! :) Good luck with those orchids!Lisa Richardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00567160304529796810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580372117701042127.post-79174506231683040822019-09-07T17:39:25.451-07:002019-09-07T17:39:25.451-07:00I recently purchased my first orchid. The directions advise giving it 3 ice cubes per week and a bright light. Not direct sunlight. I did buy some fertilizer but haven't fed it yet. I think I will visit Miss Orchid Girl. I did watch a video on growing them on P Allen Smith's YouTube channel. Hope you have good luck with yours. I don't think I have enough bright light and the air by our windows can be so cold in the winter time; not sure they would survive. Wish you the best that your flowers continue to bloom. But we are not that great with them; we had one that did bloom for a few years and then well, did not and we gave it away I think... we get a lot of them from my husband's work (they do a different flower arrangement every week and get rid of the ones of the last week so they are up for grabs). I hope these go well for you and just enjoy them, they are so beautiful! elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00962587884124992942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580372117701042127.post-63906388356769434482019-09-06T19:19:00.706-07:002019-09-06T19:19:00.706-07:00I hope you succeed...I read Anonymous comment with...I hope you succeed...I read Anonymous comment with interest. I have learned alot about them from UTUBE - MissOrchidGirl videos.

I never water with ice cubes - I use room temperature water and place the pot in a bowl so that the water soaks in from the bottom. The large plants I leave in about 20 - 30 minutes once a week and the mini's get about 10 minutes once a week.

Look at the pot the plant is potted in (not the decorative one) and if the potting mixture is moist the plant doesn't need any water. Never water from the top and let water sit in the leaves, this causes rotting.

Try out the video's they have a ton of information for beginners and have taught me how not to kill mine anyway - and I have had 1 rebloom hoping for a second to rebloom shortly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580372117701042127.post-37068103486977799352019-09-06T13:44:42.743-07:002019-09-06T13:44:42.743-07:00I think orchids like a little mist now and then, r...I think orchids like a little mist now and then, rather than a lot of water.Elizabethdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02405703727112759947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580372117701042127.post-45294693989599762992019-09-06T12:59:22.733-07:002019-09-06T12:59:22.733-07:00There is still some confusion about the two books ...There is still some confusion about the two books I mentioned a few posts ago. When I said I had a difficult time believing anyone's life could be so full of awful happenings I was referring to the book Educated NOT to the one about Hannah Hauxwell. I enjoyed both reading about Hannah and also watching the videos. Sorry for not being more clear on this.Granny Marigoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15858237999602347848noreply@blogger.com
