Mostly Teacups again

I'm having to remind myself to take pictures of my daily teacups. This pretty pink one was Monday's choice and was made by Colclough.

When I reached into the cupboard to take down Tuesday's cup and saucer I realized that they didn't make a set at all!  One peek underneath and I saw that although the cup is Royal Albert the saucer is not! I don't know why I put them together. I thought I had seen a matching saucer and after searching I found it... glued to a candlestick!

I remember that I found 3 different saucers-on-candlesticks at the thrift store, marked down because no one knew what to do with them I suppose. I've never figured out a way to use them either but I find them cute. Maybe at Christmas I'll put chocolates on them and put them on the sideboard?

Today's tea cup has one single word underneath and it is Japan.
The cup is pretty but my tea cooled off way too quickly in it .

One last picture, one that is not about tea cups.  Our sunroom has a high vaulted ceiling and in the peak there are shelves where my little houses sit all year round as well as my old camera collection.  It's way too high up for me to ever dust up there so you can imagine...
That's my 6' son on the top step of a tall stepladder changing some of the little lightbulbs that  were out. He replaced the ones I had with LEDs  so hopefully he won't have to repeat that task too often.
( I didn't push my luck and ask him to dust up there while he was up anyway. )

Thanks for once again coming by.

Teacups and Susan Wheeler

Thank you for your Thanksgiving wishes.  We had a lovely feast and afterwards we played games and finished by doing an Autumn scene jigsaw puzzle.

Do you love Susan Wheeler's art?  I think I have to include two more just for fun.

My tea cup yesterday. This one was made by Phoenix Bone China. I love the way the handle looks like an elf's ear.

I hope you have a great day!   Thanks for stopping by.

Mostly Teacups

I'm continuing with my daily tea cup selection.  This one was Thursday's cup and was made by EB Foley

Today's is also an EB Foley. I love the colours of this was especially!

Yesterday's choice is  different in appearance and also because it's not bone china. Pretty anyway.

Here's the bottom of the saucer.

Last but not least is my morning's efforts in the kitchen. Making pie dough is not something I do often but Thanksgiving calls for Pumpkin pies, right?
I used 2 different recipes for the pies. The one on the right is a recipe that calls for condensed milk.
The one on the left does not.
I used the last bit of pie dough to make a half pie using a large apple from the ones we picked earlier in the week.

Thanks for visiting !

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!!

Apple Picking

Woke up this morning to a cold North wind; temperature 10C ( 50F) but I'm sure there was a wind chill factor!  We went apple picking... now it really feels like Fall.
We had our choice of the many varieties so we chose to pick the kinds that are more costly  in the store... Honycrisp and Ambrosia.

With that cold wind I was glad I'd brought my ear muff.

For my teacup today I looked for one with Autumn tones and chose this one made by Royal Vale.

Here's yesterday's choice.... Lady Alexandra Rose made by Bell China.

Thanks for stopping by!

I love to read your comments!

October

October is getting off to a wet start. The rain shows no sign of letting up just yrt ( it is 1 P.M. now)
Oh well, I have enough to do in the house to keep me busy. Hopefully in a few days we can go back to sunshine.

The Autumn Crocus doesn't stand up well to rain. Luckily I thought of taking a picture yesterday.

The Sweet Autumn Clematis is putting on its annual show of loveliness.

The Dahlias are somewhat bedraggled but when I look at them from the porch I can't see the
leaning stalks, just the splash of colour.

I've decided to drink my tea out of a different tea cup every day in October.  Today's choice is a pretty cup by Royal Stafford.  Although I love the look, I do find that tea cools very quickly due to the wide shape.

Wishing you all sweet October days!

Craft Fair

It was the day for the annual craft fair at the plant shop.

One had to walk through a good part of the main store before coming to the area where the crafters had set up their tables.

There were so many lovely blooms to admire.

..including these Sunflowers. I realized that I've never had a sunflower and just like that one jumped into my hands!

It looks a little lonely here in my sunroom,  away from all the others.

DH's niece is so talented; she makes a variety of crafts, all of them beautiful.
I especially like the rag quilts she makes with the exposed seams.  She uses the softest fabrics and you just want to hold the quilts up to your face.

On the way out I bought another bunch of Mums, white ones this week. I mixed them with last week's yellow ones. ( I have no idea why this background is black. My camera battery was dying so maybe that's why).
                               Thanks for visiting today.

My Day

This being Tuesday I went to look around at the thrift store. As usual I found some little treasures.
The cup and saucer have bluebells on them and look so sweet ( also they were half price so only $4), the other items were .50 each. The Christmas plate with cut out edges is hand painted.

These may look like saucers but they're actually deeper. My Mom would have called these "fruit nappies". Is anyone else familiar with that term?

We had a big box of very hard  nectarines given to us. I doubted they would  ripen properly but they are slowly softening a bit. For jam they are fine. DH sliced an orange and included that in the jam. It has a nice colour ( and hopefully, good taste).

With his help I made a dozen and a half Bran muffins and a recipe of cheese biscuits. In the next 2 hours a son, a daughter, and a granddaughter are coming by after work. Can't have them go away hungry now, can I?

While putting something away this morning I discovered some Autumn candles that I must have bought after Thanksgiving last year and tucked away. This one is called Heirloom Pumpkin, Caramel and Spice. It does smell lovely.

Hope you're having a good day!

Thanks for visiting,
