There's very little happening here as we keep as warm as we can and look out at our frozen world.
Of course there's always cookies that I could bake. Baking warms the kitchen nicely. Today's cookies are gingersnaps and I'm using the recipe from Allrecipes.com. I can include the recipe at the bottom of my post if anyone wants it.
When I'm stuck for something to post about I fall back on pretty pictures. Today's are about lovely sewing projects that I admire but can't possibly do. First off are fancy tea towels.....
I'm not sure if these tags are book marks?
That's it for today. Thanks for visiting.
GINGERSNAPS
-
⅓ cup cinnamon sugar
-
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
-
1 tablespoon ground ginger
-
2 teaspoons baking soda
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¾ cup butter
-
1 cup white sugar
-
1 large egg
-
¼ cup dark molasses
Directions
-
Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place cinnamon sugar in a bowl; set aside.
Sift flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a mixing bowl.
Beat butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in white sugar. Add egg and molasses and beat until light and fluffy.
Sift 1/3 of the flour mixture into the butter mixture; stir to thoroughly blend. Sift in the remaining flour mixture and mix together until a soft dough forms.
Pinch off small amounts of dough and roll them with your hands into 1-inch-diameter balls.
Place balls in cinnamon sugar and roll to coat, then place 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. (I used parchment paper)
Bake in the preheated oven until tops are rounded and slightly cracked, about 10 minutes
Yummy on the gingersnaps! I love them. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I have one that is real similar to that one. Love those pretty little tea towels. So adorable. Stay warm GM. We are actually having cool nights and mornings but then its warmer during the day. You sure never know what Florida weather will be. LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteOh I love ginger snap cookies. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely tea towels. Maybe that is something I can learn to sew with my new sewing machine! :)
I could never make any of those projects either. And my tea towels get used, so those would have a hard life in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI did make those orange muffins, substituting cranberries for dates. Mine lacked something, not sure what. Maybe salt? I could taste the baking soda pretty strongly too, not sure why. And I think my orange wasn't as tart as it could be, so maybe I should have added a little lemon juice? I will make them again, tweaking a little to see if I can get the taste I am looking for. I love the idea of blending up a whole orange. That's brilliant.
Might have to make those gingersnaps! They're one of my favorites.
I have some old wonderful table clothes of my Grandmother. Really artworks! Ginger-cookies are special good friends in cold times. I love ginger! Here in the Bavarian Forest it is frosty but no snow in the valleys.
ReplyDeleteI love making embroidered kitchen towels — you know, the old timey ones that you use iron on transfers — so relaxing and useful
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I could just reach through the computer screen and grab one of those ginger snaps??? :)
ReplyDeleteI love gingersnaps. Yum! Such pretty pictures of things to make.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look great and thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteSure the creations you show are wonderful but we can't all do it all!!
Have a beautiful day Granny Marigold
It's icy and drizzley here tonight. It's 11:00 pm. and I just took Zoey outside. Very slippery! I have to have blood drawn at exactly 8:00 am tomorrow moring so I hope it's better then. I had to take medication at exactly 11:00 and blood work has to be done exactly 9 hours later according to the endicrinologist I saw this afternoon. At least Dennis will be home to drive me tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThose dish towels are beautiful. I've embroidered dozens of them over the years, but none for myself. Maybe I should do that for a project sometime!
Take care.
Blessings,
Betsy
Very pretty towels, but I wonder how practical they would be. But lovely to have on show.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made ginger snaps in a while and now you've made my mouth water. The tea towels are nice but I really like the tags / bookmarks.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look inviting ! I love easy sewing project, inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI do like ginger and your gingersnaps look good!
