I'm reading three books these days. The Miss Read is a recent Amazon purchase, the other 3 are from the library.
I like to look at what's available on FB Marketplace ( where I found my rhubarb) and I came upon this house for sale. It has 11 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms....all for a mere $1,899,999
When I posted about rhubarb a fellow blogger, Norma, commented that rhubarb leaves are a rich source of calcium. I believe she lives in Spain; her blog is very informative especially about nutrition. However, rhubarb leaves that we know of are not edible and are in fact very toxic. The stems, of course, are good to eat. I just wanted to clarify that.

I cannot read more than one book at a time but my daughter can. We have book club this Thursday and I haven't even started the book! I suppose anyone who would NEED 11 bedrooms could afford that house....maybe?

ReplyDeleteThat house...expensive AND ugly, at least to me. I did once stay in a house like that though, when I was storytelling. It's where they put up some of the tellers. There was a library, game room, pool room, sewing room, music room, gym, pool...I nearly got lost finding my room.

ReplyDeleteI've always been told that Rhubarb leaves are toxic. I can't imagine anyone recommending eating them.
What an enormous house, for an enormous price.
That house is not most definately not my cup of tea, even it were affordable. Enjoy reading on your porch with a cuppa, sounds lovely, and soul warming.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the cost of housing, my niece recently mentioned to me the house that my late husband grew up in, in "Silicon Valley" in California, and I looked it up on Zillow. I think my in-laws sold it for $600K 20 years ago. It is a very modest house, less than 2,000 sq feet, with 3 small bedrooms and 2 baths. It is worth over 2 million dollars now!
I love Miss Read books! I was first introduced to her when I was a young mother back in the early 1980's by a librarian in my local library. I have collected them through the years with library sales, Abe Books, yes, and even amazon.
