We don't often have thunder storms in this area but last evening we had a number of loud bursts and even had a light rain which was totally a surprise ( I think to the weather forecasters too). I went to sit out on the porch for a while. It was very dark and the lightning was amazing. This morning when we left the house to go walking I noticed how the raindrops looked on the Ladies Mantle and took a picture which doesn't capture the real beauty but will have to do.
The first Morning Glory has opened. I wonder if they'll do as well as last year. I'll post that picture too.
This white Mum was in a mixed basket maybe 2 years ago. It has made it through 2 winters to my surprise.
The Zinnias that I bought are in small pots but doing well. The same can not be said for the taller ones that I sowed myself. I should have pinched them back at one point because they're tall and spindly.
In the background are some pink flowers that I have no idea what they are. They self seed every year.
That's it for today. Thanks for visiting.
Last night at 7, my neighbor told me they were calling for rain between 9 & 11. As it got muggier and muggier out I said, There better be a thunderstorm lol. It did and there was!! It was awesome.

PS Loved the I Don't Wanna Cook pic!
You have an enchanted garden, no other way to explain it! I'm amazed at how big your Morning Glory is. You definitely have a green thumb...or two :)
ReplyDeleteWe've been having some very welcome rain too and if the garden could talk I'm sure it would be saying 'thank goodness'
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your flower photographs.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
All the best Jan
Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteWow, your last year's morning glories are remarkable! All your flowers look so healthy, even after all the heat this year.
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories dont seem to grow here.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo gave me a laugh. Coming up with supper every night can be terrible! Your flowers look great and I like you in the morning glories!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops on leave are always so pretty. Your flowers are beautiful. I've never had a mum last more than the one season.
ReplyDeleteAround here, Morning Glories are called bellflowers and can be seen climbing up the fences in the fields. When we were girls, we would pop the buds with our two fingers to hear their 'explosion'.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are amazing and I absolutely love the photo of you standing there with your beautiful morning glories. That photo is a keeper you should blow it up and have it framed :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love a good thunderstorm, especially when it's a surprise! Your Ladies Mantle with the raindrops sounds absolutely gorgeous, even if the picture doesn't do it justice. And yay for your Morning Glory blooming and that persistent white mum! Good luck with the dahlias, even the spindly ones are special.

ReplyDeleteI love morning Glories and wow....your white mum is amazing! Great flower pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful morning glories are sure happy in your garden. We only have the awful, invasive binder weed "morning glories"
ReplyDeleteOh... I do love a good thunderstorm... we are long overdue. What lovely photos Granny.. you sure do have a green thumb x
ReplyDeleteLovely morning glories.
ReplyDeleteI did smile at your gnome; I've just looked at the list on the fridge door and felt totally uninspired for our lunch today!
Your flowers are beautiful. I especially enjoyed seeing the picture of you with the Morning Glories. And the little meme at the end hits close to home. lol
ReplyDeleteWe had thunder the other day but glad it was not a strong storm like they got in the south. Pretty gardens.

We too had a lovely (and much needed) rain. Your flowers are all so lush and lovely. The white mum is gorgeous! I have never had success in wintering over any mums that were bought in the store. I hope your morning glory does well - mine only ever seem to start blooming once the frost hits and then of course they are done for.

We had a totally unexpected rain last night in the camper too. I had checked the weather before bed and none was expected, but then it rained most of the night. I love that sound on the rooftop. Your flowers are gorgeous. Mandy has my outside planters at her house while we're gone. She does better than I do with them.

What a wonder, all your flowers in your dream-garden ***** I love them all! I never heard, that a white Mum lived more than one year. The quote at the end is funny and true, because flower-children need a lot of time and a careful hand and eye.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty!! I love the morning glories; they're such a happy flower. I had some a few years ago, they climbed up the lattice on the porch, so pretty to look at while porch-sitting. Hope you're having a great day.
