5C and a light rain was falling when we walked. I think it was Catherine that asked if it was still dark when we walked at 7. Yes, it is getting darker every morning and I think we will have to carry a flashlight soon.
Daughter Sheila is on holidays and yesterday she picked me up and we went browsing in our local stores. The stores that have all the pretties💗. Here are some pictures. We had a friendly sales person take a picture of both of us then Sheila took a few of yours truly.
I found some old fashioned Advent Calendars at the thrift store. The kind that are almost impossible to find.... not with chocolate, coffee samples or any other such. The ones I used to get for my children, the ones that have either a picture of the nativity or a Bible verse behind each little door. Mine has both.
Sorry for the awful picture :( but you get the picture (pun intended).
Because of our gallivanting yesterday I got nothing done in the way of housework. Luckily there were even leftovers in the fridge for supper. Today I will be doing useful things which I better start doing soon!!
Thanks for visiting.

Love the photos, and the Advent calendars were a great find!
ReplyDeleteYour day out with your daughter sounds like a lovely time. Nice to see your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe old fashioned advent calendars were a great find! One year I went to a lot of trouble making a custom advent calendar for our children, with little doors that opened, and appropriate Bible verses behind. I went at it with my usual lack of planning (otherwise nothing would ever get done!) and it was quite inelegant, but they enjoyed it for a few years, probably until someone gave them a prettier one, and I threw out that large and cumbersome item, rather than find a place to store it.
ReplyDeleteA blessed Advent to you, GM <3
Great pictures and looks like a great store to shop in. Very cool. Cheer, Ivy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I love ❤️ the exposed brick.
ReplyDeleteI love shops like that. And what a sweet salesperson!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely time with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI have the street lights to walk under on these dark mornings. :)
Looks like you had a wonderful outing with Sheila! Lovely pics and a wonderful way to enjoy time together!

Fun day out and about!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful day with your daughter. My first stove in our first house looked like the one in your picture! We paid $10.00 for it almost 50 years ago. I haven't hard anyone use the word gallivanting since my Mom passed away. It almost made me cry. She used to always talk about going out gallivanting with my sister and I. Fun memories.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
What fun to be our shopping! You guys are looking great. Glad you had a good time in the shops. diane in northern wis
ReplyDeleteWe had a fun day today and got nothing else done. Back to decorating tomorrow, plus more shopping. It will be next week before I get started on baking, but the gift shopping is getting done, mostly on line.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have a day out with your daughter. I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteA fine time together with dear Sheila! I LOVE the photos with you, with you both!! What a nice and lovely shop!
ReplyDeleteYou are right: It's darker and darker every morning.. 🕯️
That's my mother's cooker! How did it travel across the ocean? Oh me oh my, what wonderful food used to come out of the oven... thank you for taking me back 60 years....
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun shopping day. Old fashioned Advent calendars are so nostalgic to me and so much more fun than the chocolate versions. My girls growing up always insisted in the chocolate ones, much to my disappointment!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to find 'proper' Advent calendars, rare nowadays.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful time of year to browse all the shops, one of my favorite things to do. I enjoyed the pictures, it was nice seeing you.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures 🥰 I especially love the one with the stove and red Dutch oven....❤️🥰
ReplyDeleteYes you will need a light soon to do your morning walk! It is sometimes nice to leave the housework to go out especially at Christmas time!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you had a day out with your daughter. And I enjoyed all of the pictures! It looks as if you two covered some very lovely places. I love the Advent calendar that you found! It's a pity that those are so hard to find these days.
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs from your visit to the shops.
ReplyDeleteThe old fashioned advent calendars were a great find ... I do have an advent calendar card showing a nativity scene and definitely no chocolates!
All the best Jan
Nothing wrong with a little galavanting, don't mind if I do it my self sometimes. I am more choosy where I go now. If it's Amish I'll go. Around where I live to many stores with nothing in them. Christmas shopping is not what it used to be even 30 years ago. It's lost it's sparkle. Next week I'll bake the cookie dough I have frozen.
