Monday again. I discovered this on the internet and I liked the illustration so much. Then I read the words and I thought I might share them also.
Something else I'm thinking this morning while laundry is on my mind and that is sheets that get all twisted together in the dryer. I found these tips on Real Simple site....
Shake out your sheets and pause the dryer cycle halfway to keep them from clumping and to ensure they dry thoroughly.
Toss in dryer balls, tennis balls, or a clean towel to help prevent your sheets from tangling and reduce dry time.
Limit how many sheets you wash and dry at once, or invest in a detangling product to avoid twisted and clumped-up sheets.
After reading these I have decided to buy some wool dryer balls. For those of you who use a dryer, do you have any tips to share?
It's a wet and windy morning. Fortunately we got our walk in before it got wild outside.
Thanks for visiting

I really like the picture and the thoughts that go with it. Line drying was definitely a part of my childhood and for a large portion of my married life as well. But where we currently live, it isn't possible to have a clothesline. I do use my dryer...and while I have never used the wool dryer balls, I do use the rubber ones and love them! I haven't used fabric softener for years.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's time for me to pause dusting, and a computer break, and go downstairs and check the dryer. I think the sheets are done. They well probably be in a giant ball. But they will be warm!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely picture. We don't use a dryer so I'm no help there.
ReplyDeleteWow - What a wonderful picture! It makes my heart leap for joy. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteI don't use a dryer; I dry my clothes outside on the clothesline in the wind, or indoors in the basement if necessary. So I don't have any tips for you.
But I send you my warmest regards.

I love this illustration! It brings me back to simpler times...beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI use dryer balls and I don't use any dryer sheets or fabric softener. I love the way they work and they are chemical free.
ReplyDeleteSi puedo trato de secar con el sol. Pero a veces no toca otra que hacerlo con secadora. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteReally a sweet drawig! I love the woolen rabbit drying in the air :)
ReplyDeleteI did never have a dryer, but I have enough space indoor and outdoor. My mother put the wet washing in winter under the roof in a room (attik), and there the washing was frozen and slowly it was dry and completely disinfected :)
I do like the picture and the thoughts that go with it.
ReplyDeleteLooking back to childhood days, Monday was always wash day. Come rain or shine the washing would get done.
Nowadays, I don't have a set day ... although I know many still do.
Wishing you a good week ahead.
All the best Jan
I love what you shared by the way! I use wool dryer balls and I kind of love them. And since its just me here, I use my dryer exclusively. Hanging them out would be a pain in the drain and I have soooo many other ways I want to spend my free time!
ReplyDeleteI have used dryer balls for years they work great. Shorter drying time is a huge bonus.
ReplyDeleteWe are 7f and the wind blowing!

A lovely picture and makes me what to be there. I use dryer balls and they help a little but the sheets do still tangle. I miss my clothesline because I loved the smell of sheets fresh from the clothesline.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I use dryer balls, but they don't take care of the problems that sheets pose, so I have learned to do both things you mentioned: dry fewer sheets together, and pause and detangle mid-cycle.
ReplyDeleteI rarely dry more than one fitted and one flat sheet at a time, but they can still get in a tangled! May have to try the tennis ball. I dried outside all summer, but am back to the dryer now.
ReplyDeleteThere is a Facebook group that posts pictures of laundry on the line, mostly from works of art. I enjoy them, as they are a reminder of simpler ways.
I am always fighting with the tangled sheets when I take them out of the dryer! Thank you for the ideas.
ReplyDeleteI have fond memories of my grandmother drying sheets and towels on the clothesline outside. I use wool dryer balls. I added a few drops of Lavender essential oil to each one. I get the oil from Amazon.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful image. I like to dry clothes outdoors in the summer, but use a dryer most of the year. Shaking out the towels and sheets does help keep things from tangling. I would find remembering to do it halfway through the cycle a bit difficult.
ReplyDeleteThat is a darling picture.
ReplyDeleteMy sheets seem to come out of the washer a tangled mess. Like your first commenter, I have the rubber dryer balls. Have used them for years and also gave up fabric softener.
After many days of dark and dreary we have sunshine and it feels wonderful. The picture reminds me of my mother, she always hung her laundry even when she had a dryer. The best tip I have you mentioned, don't put too much in the dryer and fluff your sheets halfway through drying.
ReplyDeleteSweet picture of times gone by. My daughter uses wool balls for many things in her dryer. She made them herself and says they really help. I have a rather large dryer, so don't seem to have the tangling thing much; as I never hair but one set of sheets in there at a time. Used to hate hanging things on the line, and never liked how stiff things were; so once I moved away from home I've never used a clothes line. I also prefer the dryer because nothing has to be ironed. Another task I never liked. I was the only daughter and did the bulk of laundry and ironing in my growing up years for a family of 5, as my Mom worked. I promised myself no more when it was my choice and I'm happy to say, I've fulfilled my self promise.
ReplyDeleteLove the illustration and the thoughts too. I may not have a dyer to get the sheets in a tangle but the wind sure does a good job tangling them around the line!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the art work - hoping the sweet little bunny dries soon! :~) I do sometimes toss tennis balls in my dryer. When I put our sheets in the dryer, I dry each sheet separately.
ReplyDeleteEverything smells so fresh after line drying! I hate it when sheets are in a ball, I just wash and dry one set at a time and that helps!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful image, thank you. I do prefer to line dry clothes, but in wet weather they have to go in the dryer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the REMINDER!! Lolol
ReplyDeleteGotta shift clothes from washer to dryer!!
