Mainly about Flowers

Happy Sunday!  We're enjoying a stretch of sunny days. Had to get the portable A/C out to keep the bedrooms cool.  There's another portable on the porch and that one was doing its best to keep the temperature down.  Youngest son came and got on the roof to put a cover on the skylight. That helps keep it cool as well.  While he was here he planted two new Clematises that I bought at Walmart earlier this week. One was Jackmanii Superba and the other had the unlikely name of Bees Jubilee. Both take  spots left by  Clematis that didn't show up after this Winter.

We have 2 Spring Clematis that are in full bloom right now. The first one is fighting for space since an older one ( a white one that blooms later) has decided to try to take over.  That's what the bushy light green foliage is all about.

The other pink one grows over part of the garden shed and onto an arbour.

This lovely tree/shrub is in my DIL's part of the garden. I believe it's an ornamental cherry ( prunus).

This may or may not be of any interest to you. I thought I'd include it. I've never tried growing lungwort but I have tried several times to grow Impatiens with no luck at all. They are supposed to be very easy to grow but not in my garden.

Thanks for coming by

  1. I have a lot of lungwort (Pulmonaria) in the garden and the little bright blue and pink flowers are very pretty. Might have had a nicer name though!

You in connection with your flower-garden are like an angel - -
I love the quote at the end.
Here in Bavaria it is also very warm - but not in the nights - and it's very dry. The grass does not grow for to make hay.

  4. Is pulmonary the same as 'soldiers and sailors'? My country neighbour calls it that because it has both red and blue flowers at the same time.
I'm trying to resist getting anything for the garden as both the front and the back will be totally upheaval when (if?) this planned extension ever gets going this year.

  8. My lungwort is just now beginning to green up as spring is slow in coming this year. The Bible verse sure resonates. It is one I have highlighted in Bible as it speaks to an introvert's soul!

  9. We have a mostly shady yard so we grow all of those plants. We don't grow magnificent clematis like you do. We have some but compared to yours, they are scrawny.

  12. That sounds like a really productive (and warm!) Sunday. Getting ahead of the heat with the portable A/Cs and even covering the skylight—smart moves. And it’s nice your son could help out too. Those Clematis varieties sound lovely; hopefully they settle in well and give you a great display after replacing the ones that didn’t make it through winter.

  13. Your clematis and prunus tree are visions of pink - so pretty. It is warm - I spent most of the day in the garden with a light long sleeved shirt and a hat!
That's an interesting chart of flowers. Columbines come up everywhere in the garden, in sunny spots and shady ones. It doesn't seem to be too fussy.

  14. Your garden is beautiful! Love the color of the Clematis. Thanks for the graphic. I have a very shaded bed under a bedroom window that is empty. Now I have some ideas as to what to plant there.
