Chit Chat

Did you know that today is International Zebra Day?  That's okay, I didn't know that either. Apparently it's always some designated special day.

We've had very hard rain this past week. That may have had something to do with the added traffic at our bird feeders. Besides the usual visitors we've had a pair of Towhees...pictures from the internet

...and this little Nuthatch

When we last walked at Willband we saw this immature Eagle sitting maybe 20' from us. He seemed to ignore us completely and only flew away when some people with dogs came by.

As I mentioned in my last post I'm confused about what right I have to different images on line especially from Pinterest where I find the best ones. I feel confident that bird ID websites would be okay with my using their pictures, also the weather network and such. I'm just not sure about other sites.  I  read the following statements  and they seem to be saying 2 different things.

Pinterest allows you to post content, including photos, videos, comments, links, and other materials. For the purpose of these Terms, anything that you post or otherwise make available on Pinterest is referred to as "User Content."

Pinterest is great for inspiration, but in order to use those photos for your marketing you need to have written permission from the original owner of the photo.

What do you think?

Thanks for visiting

  2. Grandma, did you know that zebra stripes are like human fingerprints because each zebra has a unique pattern of stripes, similar to fingerprints?

  3. I think if you are just using the pictures for yourself or for posting like you are that's okay. I think the problem comes in if you are making money from them or taking credit for it. I could be wrong but that's what I'd say.

  4. It is a fine line when using photos that others took. Not sure what is right but most likely at the least the photographer should get credit!

  5. I think it is confusing! Although, you got a nice photo of the eagle. And, no, I didn't know there was such a thing as National Zebra's Day. I guess they deserve to have one too.

  7. I didn't know that today is zebra day but it IS my birthday! I think as long as you say you found the photos on Pinterest you would be okay. Usually they don't want you making money off of their photography. At least that's what I was told at one time. Who knows though?
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  8. And today is Candlemas! The light is shining one hour longer ..

Oh, such a lot of rain. The birds find shelter and food in your garden. I see a wonderful conection between my actual post about St. Francis, who made a sermon or the birds.

  9. yes! 🦓 It’s amazing how many “official” days there are — sometimes I feel like there’s a special day for everything! But International Zebra Day is such a fun one — a perfect excuse to celebrate those striking black-and-white beauties and maybe learn a quirky fact or two about them. Who knew zebras could brighten up the calendar like this? 😄✨

  11. Zebras are my favourite animal. I find their crazy pattern so much fun. Had no idea there was a national zebra day.

  12. The Towhees are such beautiful birds. They are something we don't see much of around here, but the Nuthatch...they come to the feeder several times a day. I love to watch them climb down the trunk of the Maple tree outside the kitchen window.

The whole graphic usage thing is so confusing and I get that. It's one reason why I decided to go to using my own photos. But then I think, well, I've been blogging since 2008 and have used these different graphics, and no one has ever questioned my permission to use them. I guess it is just something to pray about and see how the Lord leads you.

  13. I did not know about zebra day - darn! I also don't know too much about sharing things you find on the internet. People do it so freely and how in the world can all of it be enforced? If I use anything I can't usually trace it to any one person, and my blog is not monetized anyway.

  14. I have left Pinterest I had problem with it and the pictures. When I use a photo from the net I put: from the internet and source:…where you found the picture.
I love the two small birds we don’t have them here.
