I believe the February full moon ( Snow moon) was at its best the night before last but we had clouds. Last night I was able to see it during a rather brief time when the clouds cleared. Now it is raining again but according to the forecast we will have better weather as the week progresses.
Today is Candlemas , the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. It is also the feast day commemorating the presentation of Jesus in the temple. Known as the "Feast of Light" it features the blessing of candles symbolizing Christ as the light of the world.
Since the winter solstice on December 21 we here in British Columbia have gained approximately
30 to 40 minutes
of total daylight each day. Daylight increases by roughly 1–2 minutes daily, with the rate
accelerating to over 2 minutes per day by early February, making
mornings noticeably lighter.
Today is my laundry day and when I saw this on Pinterest I took my chances and copied it. I know there is supposedly a way to neatly fold fitted sheets but so far I have not mastered it.
I hope your week is off to a good start. Thanks for coming by!!

I love all your photos. I don't know why our time changes twice a year, but ever since I can remember it has been this way.
ReplyDeleteIn November it isn't too bad because we gain an hour's sleep, but in March we lose an hour's sleep.
Many people here in Quebec are asking the government to leave it on daylight savings time all year round.
I had to laugh when I saw this picture and the caption you put under it about fitted sheets :)
ReplyDeleteI am delighted with our longer days and I also want to say how pretty the framed tulips are on your sideboard.
Have a sweet week,
Connie :)
I didn't have the Candlemas tradition in my background, but we known
ReplyDeletefeb 2 as Groundhog day. I understand he saw his shadow so we can expect more days of winter weather.
All of my Christmas/snowman stuff is now put away. I'm not into spring yet though.
We were able to see the Snow Moon but I can never get a good picture with my phone. Your daughter is quite the artist. That is a lovely painting of tulips. The Candlemas article was interesting. The folded fitted sheet made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who can make a neat bundle from a fitted sheet has my admiration.
ReplyDeleteWe had a bright full moon here in Kentucky. I know you are glad to be getting more daylight, as am I!
ReplyDeleteYes you need Tulips!
ReplyDeleteThe fitted sheet meme made me laugh. I love the idea that we will soon have more daylight to spend. (:
ReplyDeleteThank you for these informations! I love the day of Candlemas, but till now I did not know, that it is the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. I also love the meaning for faith on this day.
ReplyDeleteThe Chistmastrees were removed today in the churches. So you are in a perfect connection by decorating your sideboard with spring ideas..
I could see the Snow-fullmoon, but often some clouds closed the view. It's still rather cold and snowy here in the Bavarian Forest.
Washing sheets day for me too.
ReplyDeleteI can fold a fitted sheet pretty good. My mom showed me how when I was little. I've had lots of practice. Though now I mostly take the sheets off and once washed they go right back on the bed.
Love the graphic! lol. I am indebted to a great aunt of mine for teaching me how to properly fold a fitted sheet.
ReplyDeleteI love Candlemas! Had my candles blessed!!
ReplyDeleteI love the day of Candlemas and can tell the days are getting longer…a feast of light! We could see the full moon all weekend, glorious. 🌝 Your February decor is just lovely and I think that last photo IS the same way I fold sheets. 😁
ReplyDeleteHappy February to you and your darlings….xox…Virginia
So funny! There is a way to fold fitted sheets that a French friend showed me. Remembering it isnt always easy!
ReplyDeleteCandlemass, St.Brigid & here in the US we have Groundhog Day will he see his shadow or not, here in Ohio buckeye Chuck did see it and we are to have an early spring. I do love the moon and I think I did catch it one night we had clear skies. It makes the snow sparkly and blue.Faith @ FarmhouseWorthy
ReplyDeleteWe do “Crepes”pan cakes on Candlemas representing the sun !🌞
ReplyDeleteThe fitted sheet graphic made me laugh. In my small little part of the world I have somehow missed knowing about Candlemas. I found it so interesting, although I am familiar with Feast of Lights! btw, I have mastered the art of folding a fitted sheet. Yay me. lol
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need to get some tulips and I love the fitted sheet thing. I try so hard to fold them neatly but they never lie flat. I'm also enjoying the added sunlight every day. It sure cheers up the day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Folding fitted sheets is always a chore. I mostly wash the sheets and put them back on the bed immediately to avoid the wrestle.
ReplyDeleteOh those fitted sheets!! Love the tulip picture.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Your sideboard is a beautiful piece of furniture! No Spring decor out yet here, but i don't so much anyway. And I agree, you need tulips! I was tempted to get a bunch last time I was out but at $10 it was a little steep for me.
ReplyDeleteFolding sheets: I just roll up the fitted one, fold the flat one and one pillowcase, then put them all in the other pillow case. So handy!
For Candlemas, we put away the last of the Christmas decorations – like the Advent/Christmas stars.
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely that the days are getting longer again.
Unfortunately, we couldn't see the full moon because it's so cloudy at the moment – everything is gray – but it's a good thing there's snow, because the snow, with its beautiful whiteness, makes everything bright and cheerful.
Warm regards.
I wish you a wonderful February.
It is so nice when the days start getting that bit longer.
ReplyDeleteThe fitted sheet meme made me laugh :)
All the best Jan
