I think my Thanksgiving Cactuses want to be Easter Cactuses because they're both blooming again.
In the kitchen today I baked bread and also an Apple Crumble ( that's what the recipe was called but the only thing that was different from my Apple Crisp recipe was that it didn't call for any oatmeal.)
I baked the Crumble in a pie plate because it's going to have to be my pie for Pi day tomorrow ( March 14th).
Here's a question I have.... Would you throw a pair of leather slippers that have fur trim in the washer?
I've surface washed them a number of times but would really like to immerse them and wash them properly but I'm afraid I'll ruin them. Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks for visiting
I've put my leather gardening gloves in the washer with no ill effects,
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Your apple crisp sounds great! I would not put those leather slippers with fur trim into the washer.
ReplyDeleteHmmm....not sure I would put those slippers in the washer. Not helpful!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about washing the leather slippers...if it is a last resort maybe. Nice baked goods!
ReplyDeleteMy Thanksgiving cactus as a few blooms on it too.
ReplyDeleteIf it was me I'd try throwing them in the washer.
Maybe put them in one of those mesh bags.
You can get leather safe soap to clean leather slippers ... this guide may give you some ideas.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
These cactus.flowers are great!
ReplyDeleteHow valuable are the leather slippers for you having them longer unwashed? If they make no joy for you now, encourage you to whash them, the result will be an experiment, but maybe a win..
I think you could put the slippers in the washer, warm to cool water, gentle, short cycle, and the remove them, block them somehow, and air dry them. You may have to work them to keep them from getting stiff.
ReplyDeleteOr you could buy a new pair. :-)
My cactus has never bloomed. I’m still waiting patiently! The bread and the apple crisp/crumble looks delicious. Some vanilla ice cream and apple crumble sounds very good right now. I have no advice about the slippers.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs, Betsy
That peachy cactus of yours is my favorite. I love that color. Also love apple desserts!
ReplyDeleteCan you hand wash the slippers, avoiding immersing the fur trim?
ReplyDeleteNot sure about slippers, I used this question in Google (the answer was negative) "can you wash leather slippers with faux fur in washing machine" however by doing the search various ideas for cleaning popped up. Lovely cactus in bloom!!! Happy pi day!
ReplyDeleteBoth desserts look delicious!

I have washed all kinds of things in the washer. Usually with shoes, I do a load of towels. With deep water as well. If you are concerned about how vigorously the washer would clean them, I guess you could also do this in your kitchen sink with some mild soap and a gentle soaking.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Thanksgiving Cactus that's reblooming too!
ReplyDeleteI would likely toss them in a gently cold short cycle though knowing, it's a risk however, I like things that can wash up well and so if they failed, they'd be soon replaced.
ReplyDeleteBakes look wonderful.
The flowers are so pretty. Maybe they will bloom every holiday LOL. The pie sounds delish. I've never laundered those kind of slippers so I'm no help there.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteMy cactus also bloomed this month! I must have given it too much water, maybe? Love that color!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would wash leather slippers, but there must be some method to clean them.
