Car Show and a Wasp Nest

There was a small car show nearby and we walked over to see the various cars.
DH made a guess that this was a 1947 (Ford).

This 1957 Ford Fairlane convertible  was unusual because it had a retractable hardtop as opposed to the folding textile-based used by traditional convertibles.

He had no idea what year this oldie came out. I wish I would have gotten more of the car in the picture.

Also this week we became aware of a wasp nest in one of our birdfeeders.  Middle Son  used 2 sprays to get rid of them. The first spray was to calm them and the second finished them off, thankfully he did not get stung.
(Those white dots on the grass are clover blossoms, in case you wondered.)

I hope you have a pleasant weekend. We are going on a little adventure later this afternoon. I hope to get pictures.   Thanks for visiting.

  1. Nice cars! I have a crochet wasp nest that I have hanging around our yard and the wasps stay away. You can take a small paper bag and shape it like a wasp nest and hang it in the area:)

  2. As I've shared with you before, I absolutely love those cars. They have so much character. And I hope everyone stays safe around the bees and that no one is allergic to them. 😊

  4. Getting those wasp nests under control is a good thing in a garden. Those old cars are interesting. The meme at the bottom made me smile - I do remember those little red threads!
    Have a good outing!

  5. I remember the hardtop convertibles and the red band aid string! We had a wasp nest on the porch ceiling by the front door. We didn't know about it until company came!!! They weren't stung but it was a close call.

  6. Must be the season for car shows. There was one here just the other day. And yes I remember those band-aids. Dows that mean I'm old!

  9. I'm old enough!
They hang strange drawstring bags with something inside to keep them puffed up from the trees in the café of our local National Trust garden, to dissuade the wasps. Odd, but it seems to work.

  10. Yes I remember the little red thread also. Those cars are beautiful even now. I would love to go for a ride in one of those beauties with the top down. Remember hot the real leather seats got?

  11. It is amazing how people have preserved some of those older cars. Can't wait to hear about your adventure.

  12. That reminds me to check the brass cowbell I have hanging on the patio. The yellow jackets like to build inside of it. Gosh, I am not a fan of stinging things!

  13. Oh yes, I remember that red string. :). Car shows are fun to go to. We have a few wasps nest around here too. We spray them too and they die right away.

  14. OMG! The Ford Fairlane Flip Top, we had one when I was kid, just exactly like that....Black with the gold strip. Haven't seen one for years and never had a picture of our car. Back then one roll of film had to cover multiple holidays, so pictures like this just weren't taken in our household. Too expensive to get the pictures developed. It was a used car. My Dad LOVED that car. He had a hard time getting rid of it when the time came. You made my day. Glad your son was able to take care of the wasps nets without getting stung. BRAVO!

  15. We have wasps [I call them hornet] that are determined to build a nest above one of the support beams in the back porch--which is where I hang laundry. Jim [who is tall] sprayed them for me and I hoped to be done with them. Apparently newcomers are looking to rebuild the nest as they were zooming above my head this morning.
