Lovely sunshine with a slight breeze today. 23C right now (almost 4 o'clock).
As most of you know I have a lot of teacups and from time to time they all need washing. I decided
that I'd take the ones from this cupboard and get them done. All 15 are the same brand which is Colclough. I actually was short one and yesterday Youngest Son came by with one he had found at the thrift store ( the apple didn't fall from from the tree).
The teacup that he brought is the middle one on the second shelf from the bottom. It came with a little white ribbon which I've left .
For some time I've noticed that my oven light was very very dim. I found an appliance bulb at Canadian Tire and today grandson M removed the old stubby remains of a melted bulb from the back of the oven. (There was no way either of us could reach back there and the oven door is not removable).
He was quite intrigued by the melted bulb and took it with him or I'd show you what it looked like.
Hopefully this new bulb will be more durable. It will be nice to have a light again.
That's the 'excitement ' for today. Thanks for coming by.

My oven light is out but I don't think either of us will be changing it. :-(
ReplyDeleteDear friend, I got a chuckle 😃 out of the illustration. Your teacup sets are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI think your day was exciting…clean shelves, a new lightbulb and a new teacup, I’d say that’s pretty great! And, I love the last picture, too. THANK YOU for sharing your lovely thoughts, home and flowers, etc, etc, etc… it’s always such a nice visit here.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Virginia
You have so many beautiful teacups and saucers. The new one is so pretty. Now the shelves are filled out. Your posts are not nonsense. I love each and every one. It gives me a glimpse into your life.
ReplyDeleteMy oven saga for the week was Wednesday when I went to bake cinnamon rolls. Smoke began rolling out of the oven. Somehow something had spilled onto the bottom last time I baked. I have no idea what. I shut the oven off and moved the rolls to the bottom oven instead. I was frantically opening the balcony and garage door in spite of the 96F temperature outside. One of my fears living here in the condo is setting off the smoke alarm. It sends an automatic message to the fire department and they come. I didn't want to have to tell them that "I'm just making breakfast and my oven is dirty!" How embarrassing. Thankfully I got the smoke cleared out before the sprinklers went off and called the department.
The rest of the week has been quieter so far.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I appreciated the picture at the end; it exactly mirrors my thoughts when I'm meeting my friends!
ReplyDeleteThe tea cup was a lucky find!
Very cool that your son thrifts as well. Lovely collection.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coffee cups!
ReplyDeleteYour teacups are so pretty. Isn't it nice to know your son thinks of you when he's out and about?
ReplyDeleteA melted bulb would be quite the sight. So glad your grandson could replace it for you.
Enjoy the beautiful weather!
That's a lot of tea cups to wash. What a great collection to have, they are all so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got that bulb replaced. Mine is still going strong, so far anyway. :)
Your teacups are lovely! Nice that you got that bulb replaced. Small things like that are always the best!
ReplyDeleteYour porcelain cups are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy drinking my coffee—or tea—out of beautiful cups.
It’s wonderful that the lights are back on; our dear children and grandchildren are truly our greatest treasure.
So sweet that he saw that beautiful set and thought of you. (: My oven bulb is easy to replace, which is nice, I guess. I feel like I barely use it. Maybe the previous one melted because it wasn't an appliance bulb? Just a thought. I had the heating element burst into flames once - that was exciting, and not in a fun way.
ReplyDeletebeautiful, delicate teacups. I have just a few which came from my husbands side, they are all the same., a kinder gentler time, manners and grace, tea napkins, saucers, and a cup was a cup not a bathtub.
ReplyDeleteLovely tea cups I used to collect English ones I saved a few and donated the rest.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Your teacups are pretty.
ReplyDeleteI do like the meme/illustration at the end of your post :)
All the best Jan
I agree with Virginia about the kind of day you had! I enjoy looking at your teacups. Maybe I should change my oven light before it begins to melt....
ReplyDeleteColclough cups are so beautiful! I have one or two. Your collection is nice!
ReplyDeleteYou have an amazing collection of tea cups. The pink one on the bottom shelf really caught my eye...so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI had a number of delicate tea cups/saucers and some dainty dessert bowls. [I think they used to be called 'sauce dishes.'] I never had a place to display them that wasn't accessible to resident cats, so when my daughter bought a large hutch and had it restored, I gave them all to her.
