Another Walk

Another week flew by.  Our weather has changed to cool and cloudy. Hopefully the sunshine returns soon.  I took my camera along on our walk yesterday. There are some very big old rhododendrons nearby and they're so beautiful right now.

In front of this assisted living building (also very near to us) there are several Laburnums blooming.

Once in the park we saw these goslings that have grown so much in just a few days. I guess it's no wonder since all they do all day is eat.

Now the ducklings are starting to appear.  I hope this mama can keep her babies safe.  Male geese stay near to their families and are fiercely protective while the male duck leaves all the protecting to the mama. She's no match for any predators.

I plan on baking a rhubarb cake today as well as making jam.  I'll use frozen strawberries which fortunately we still have in our freezer.  Maybe add some rhubarb.

What are your plans for the day?  I'd love to know.

Thanks for visiting.

  3. Hello! You have the best walks! Those rhododendrons are stunning and always great to see the waterfowl. I walked, did two loads of laundry and now I’m going to the market…we are going on a picnic tomorrow and I need some goodies. Some days are planned out, some days are open and easy…so nice to have that flexibility! I always look forward to your posts. Thanks for sharing your day. xo, Virginia

  5. daughter sent me a bunch of peony buds for Mother's Day. They are sitting in the vase and starting to open. I can smell the divine smell they give off, already. Love them.

  10. That pink Rhodie looks like a 'Cynthia', my all time favorite and an old classic.
After breakfast out, our usual thing, we did lots of food shopping. We're getting ready to host Mother's Day dinner for family on Sunday. We are also getting in some rest after a very busy week.

  12. That is a beautiful Rhododendron. Stunning! I love the little ducklings and like you, I hope they all survive childhood. I'm trying to catch up on recent blogs tonight and then will read backwards. We had NO internet or phone in the campground all week.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

    Good weekend.

  17. We made chili this morning. The afternoon found us outside trimming branches out of a few trees, working on the patio and putting stuff around the house to kill ants...we use Home Defense. I have a load of laundry to fold and then the couch is calling my name!

  18. I do like rhododendrons, lovely to see them blooming at this time of year.
I enjoyed your photographs ... enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Happy Mothers Day to all who celebrate it - here in the UK we celebrated ours back in March.

    All the best Jan

  19. So wonderful rhododendrons! Really amazing. Here in the Bavarian Forest they begin slowly to flourish, too. And also amazing: These goslings and ducklings! How different fathers can be! - - I love rhubarb cake! A combination of rhubarb and strawberries in the jam will be successful! Good, that your kitchen always has some good things to find.
