Food and Flowers

Eldest Daughter, GD  Kate, and I went plant shopping today. We had a fun morning . When I got tired I went to sit in the small sitting area that is provided by the place. You can see the cart with some of our choices beside me.   In the afternoon I planted out most of mine. I think I have enough now. lol

What's happening in the kitchen....I baked a cheesecake then I made an Apple cake using a recipe that Gina posted on her blog The Cannary Family.  Since the oven was on and the day was cool I made a pot of baked Beans.

Here's more Full Moon information from the internet for anyone who is interested.

May is ending with a rare celestial event: a Blue Moon.

The second full moon of the month will rise on the night of Friday, May 30, into the early morning of Saturday, May 31. The month's first full moon, the Flower Moon, rose on May 1.

June will bring the Strawberry Full moon. That will be on the 29th.  No doubt by then the strawberry harvest will be in full swing. We had our first taste of local berries this past week and they were very delicious. The price of those first berries is quite high but will come down, hopefully.

That's it for today.  Thanks for visiting.

  2. You look lovely there next to a basket of flowers, always nice to look for flowers & plant them. I like the moon, and all of it's beautiful glory. I didn't know about the blue moon this month. Faith@FarmhouseWorthy

  4. You look happy sitting there! I went into a greenhouse and shop yesterday looking for a big geranium potted and impatiens hanging pot...we found both. It was a fun time. I forgot how fun it is to walk through a greenhouse full of flowering plants. Jim insisted on also buying beer bread mix! Ha. Your apple cake looks divine. take good care.

  7. hahaha - I need a poster like that one at the top! I am afraid to go to the nursery anymore because it is almost impossible not to buy more plants than I can use. When I get home, I am not happy trying to find the place to plant them, or the time to do it....

  8. I do want to buy so.e plants for outside our front door. It looks so bare at the moment, but it is scorching in the sun. I need something colourful, sun-loving, and drought resistant as I'm not wonderful at remembering to water things... Maybe I need to buy fabric flowers!

  11. Great shopping! I love your photo and illustrations! Although I love flowers and plants, I do not have a green thumb at all! And I have never had a garden, as I have always lived in an apartment building. However, I love to take my walks in nature and whenever I see pretty flowers, trees or plants, I take photos and share them on my blog.
I love the photo of you, you look radiant!

  12. Good for you for getting everything that you bought planted right away. I am done plant shopping and planting, but we still have a few big jobs left to do in the garden before we just get to the maintenance stage.
I saw a big moon out og my window last night and wondered about the full moon. BTW, the 31st is Sunday.
