Happy First Day of May!! It promises to be sunny and quite warm here today. Fortunately I did some baking yesterday so I won't need to use the oven today. I made lemon scones and Oatmeal/Raisin cookies.
Last night I went out after 10 o"clock to see the full moon. I love being outside at night. All the years that we had a dog I would be out either early before it got light or late (for that last trip for the dog).
Nowadays I don't have a reason to be out there early or late so it doesn't happen.
Here's what the internet has to say about this month's moon.
May brings two full moons − one is the "Flower Moon,"
originally named by Native Americans for the wildflowers the burst into
bloom in the North America this time of year. These flowers include
lupine, violets, wild garlic, anemones and more. And the second is a
full blue moon at the end of the month.
Having two full moons in one month is the result of the moon's cycle, which lasts about 29.5 days. Because that cycle does not align perfectly with the length of calendar months, there are occasional instances when a month begins with a full moon and ends with another.
The high for today is forecast to be 25C , tomorrow 28 and Sunday 30 degrees (86F).
I better get outside and do any gardening before it gets too warm.
I hope you're having a lovely day too.

Happy May to you. Your photos and illustrations are lovely. Your baked goods look scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely weekend.
The weather man was talking about the 2 full moons the other night. I like to sit outside at night but the mosquitos down here will take you away. :)) The scones and cookies sound wonderful, something that would be very good with my coffee. Happy May!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mayday! It is cold here - 57 degrees - and has been raining off and on for what seems like a couple of weeks now. My yard is a swampy mess! Hopefully we will get some sunny days soon. Now you have me wanting to go bake cookies. (:
ReplyDeleteHappy May to you GM. Lemon scones sound wonderful. I've never made those so will have to look for a recipe. I love being outside either early in the morning or late in the evening. It is so pieceful. Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, Happy May, the nicest month of the year!
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day to you, GM. I noticed that bright full moon last night, too. Your baking looks delicious. I love almost anything lemon-flavoured.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to have a a dip in temps this weekend.

Wishing you a happy month of May.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Happy May. We have a frost warning again for tonight. Just came in from covering our little garden again.
ReplyDeleteHappy first of May to you!
ReplyDeleteThat baking. Those pictures of that baking. I want to be in your kitchen right now sampling those goodies.
ReplyDeleteDennis is out hiking right now under the full moon with some friends.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Happy May! I didn't go out last night to look at the moon, so I did just now, but maybe it hasn't come up yet... I always appreciate your telling us about the various moons!
ReplyDeleteGood informations about the May-Fullnmoon. I told it also to my sisters, who are very interested in the names of the moons . We have clear nights here and can see it very good. Fine to be sometimes free - this is the good side of being without a dog or small children :)
ReplyDeleteThe lemon scones and Oatmeal/Raisin cookies look delicious! I nearly can smell their wonderful taste!
Many greetings from the beautiful May in the Bavarian Forest 💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮💮
How lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI agree the pictures of your baked goods are so pretty and I can just imagine that your kitchen smells delightful. Nothing is more welcoming than walking into a house that has homemade baked goods. Happy May to you! 🥰
ReplyDeleteThe lemon scones sound really good right now. It's now almost 5:00 on Saturday. Yesterday we went plant shopping. Today we got everything potted up. We watched a Sounders Soccer game and the final hour of the Kentucky Derby. More plants got moved out of the green house. It's a busy time but a wonderful time.
