Busy Days

How quickly the days go by. It's been 5 days since I last posted . Our weather has been fairly pleasant so my excuse is that I was busy outside. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
This morning we had wild wind blowing the trees and shrubs while lashing them with rain.  Now, in the afternoon, the sun is out and although the wind isn't gone it has lost some of its strength.

Recently I picked up 2 jigsaw puzzles at a church garage sale that we noticed on our way back from our walk at Willband.  Both are 500 pieces, which we prefer, and the pictures are so attractive. Although we had decided not to start another one until Fall we ended up doing the one with the tractor and the cows. As you can see we made good progress.

In the back yard I have an area which DH and Youngest Son covered with some metal roofing in order to protect my shade-loving Hostas, Ferns, and Heuchera from winter drowning as well as summer sun.
(The angel was found beside the street... Free... and stands guard over this area.)

I liked that area so much that I created another shady corner right behind the house.
I need to get someone to put a hook in the ceiling so I can hang that little metal birdhouse.

Once we get very warm temperatures I'll be doing a lot of watering containers. Last count was over 40.

That's it for today. Thanks for coming by.

  1. I love the jigsaw puzzles you chose! The cows on the one you are working on are delightful! It was a beautiful day here in Montreal as well! Comfortable temperatures, sunshine and a great day to enjoy a long walk in nature or whatever else anyone wants or likes to do outdoors!
I love your photos and the shady area is fantastic!

  3. The angel was a good find. Your shade loving plants look happy in their pots, with water and sun protection.

  4. WoW GM, your shade plants are gorgeous, so full and healthy. I have that same Wysocki puzzle, Wysocki puzzles are my favorite. We're getting some rain today and supposed to have more the next few days. We sure need it.

  5. That shade garden is beautiful! It looks so serene.
40 pots! I feel better about my dozen or so. But I think I need more, to fill in color in my largest flowerbed, because once Spring is over, I just don't have enough flowering plants in there that the deer won't eat. I am trying to rectify that, but it will take time.

  10. Yes, I agree... gardening is my therapy too. You have been busy and I'm glad to know it has been with enjoyable pursuits. The shade garden is lovely and the free angel. Wow, what a find!

  12. Love the puzzles...both are so attractive. I am especially fond of the one that you started with the tractor and cows. I grew up on a dairy farm, so when I see Holstein cows it always brings back memories of childhood.

And your shade gardens are just gorgeous. All of your plants look so healthy and beautiful.

  13. What a beautiful garden! I used to have an angel just like that at our house in Spokane. Unfortunately she got attacked by some nasty hail and was damaged beyond repair. I love seeing her guard your garden. I have never had much luck with hostas and I just love the lushness of them.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  15. And yet other thing we both enjoy, jigsaw puzzles! I should have posted on the puzzle I received for Mothers Day and took the time to do a few weeks ago. My problem with jigsaw puzzles is I do not want to stop until the puzzle is completed and time just flies by while I am very absorbed in the puzzle! I like your shade plants.

  22. When the weather is nice, it's hard to stay indoors. I've been out gardening, too. I prefer 500 piece puzzles, too. Your shade garden is looking beautiful and will be a cool place to enjoy come full summer.
