A New Week

Thanks for all the positive comments on the things from the past.   I'm amazed how many of you remembered ( and took the time to comment). Now another week begins and we're edging closer to the September. It's fun to see all the school supplies on the store shelves and mothers ( it's almost always the mothers) with children following along and getting the necessary items. First day back will be the second of the month.

Our weather has changed to much cooler temperatures.  16C this morning. We're still having our meals out on the porch but breakfast requires a lap blanket for this old lady.  After our walk I began deadheading the roses along the driveway. I was almost finished the white rose when she took her revenge and hooked one of her sharp spines into my arm. At that point I came in and after putting on a bandaid I continued with laundry. I'm getting more familiar with the new washer but I have found out that this one won't give me pure hot water either. To my way of thinking sheets and towels need hot water. I did go to Walmart yesterday and bought Oxyclean which purports to boost detergent with good results. Have you tried it?

I better go check to see if another load is finished. Have a great week.

Thanks for coming by.

  1. Thank goodness 🙏 for the cooler temperatures. It is 18 now here in Montreal. What a welcome relief after the intense heat 🥵 🔥 wave.

  2. It's laundry day here too and my not very old washer is making some strange noise. Is it a bad sign? New stuff doesn't last like old stuff did, and what "new and improved" usually isn't

  3. I do like both the memes/quotes on your post today.

I too am looking forward to September and the Autumnal months.

    All the best Jan

  4. I'm like you - I want a hot water wash for towels and sheets. My washer is not an agitator type, which I think gets clothes cleaner. However, I'm not complaining too much, since it works! Wish we were having cool mornings, too...I can dream.

  5. I do use oxiclean. It does help. We have hard water so detergents don't always do the trick alone.

  6. No, I've never used Oxyclean. I've used Tide for as long as I can remember as did my mother. Love that quote!!!!

  7. Happy new week to you! We in Bavaria call this kind of later, cooler summer "old-women-summer" :) So you are allowed to take a blanket, when you sit for your breakfast on the veranda.

You do good work, even when the roses have not always your opinion 🌹🌻💖

I wash white or very dirty clothes with hot water, but my washer is about 20 years old.

  8. I keep hoping it will cool off here, but no such luck. Still, it does get cooler in the evenings and morning.
I can't use hot water in my washer, plumbing issue. Honestly I need a new washer AND dryer. I do use Oxyclean sometimes and I think it helps, a little. Best of all though, is drying in the sun.

  9. I like hot water for sheets and towels also. Does your washer have a sanitize cycle?

  10. For sheets and towels I use hot water, often with OxyClean added, and always a second rinse including vinegar, to make sure no detergent is left in them.

  11. haven't heard of Oxyclean, most UK washers run on low temps as eco friendly although mine does have a hot wash I rarely need. I add vinegar to my rinse as it softens towels, no odour and cleans the machine. scented softeners can cause a sticky build up in the drum so I avoid those. Nothing beats the smell of sheets dried outside!

  12. Oh how I look forward to the cooler temps...not necessarily winter, but fall will be nice. I hope you get the hot water issue figured out. Maybe it will be a simple fix and you won't have to buy additional product to do the wash. (we can hope!)
