It's raining here today. I sat out on the porch with my coffee and watched it come straight down. It's been quite a while since we had such a good drenching. I baked yesterday ( cheese biscuits also lemon scones) and most of it went into the freezer. On the subject of freezers..... We have 2 fridges. The old one is so old we have to defrost the tiny freezer from time to time when It gets too iced up. That led me to doing a Do You Remember? post. Here goes.....
Did you play with paper dolls when you were little?
Child safe car seats were yet to be invented. Amazingly all 5 of mine survived :)
I liked the styles of the 50's
Thanks for enduring my flash-back.
Yes to all of those! I loved my baby doll pyjamas!! I'd like some of your rain. Gardens are dried up and brown here.
ReplyDeleteI remember all of these, and believe it or not, I have a fridge where I have to defrost the freezer....now. LOL. I have had frost free, but I don't at this time. I have to say, though, that the newer models today are much easier to defrost than the old models of years ago.
ReplyDeleteBut those old ones will last 60 years!
DeleteThose dresses are so beautiful. I hope fashion swings back that way.
ReplyDeleteI remember those freezers. They were no joke!
I remember every single one!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, I remember.
ReplyDeleteI was glad when my old freezer finally went bad and I got a new frost free, not that many years ago. Every June at the time of year when school lets out for the summer, I am now thankful that that is one job I no longer have to do.
I love the dresses of the 50's and I have a chest style freezer in my garage that currently needs defrosting :(
ReplyDeleteI remember all of those! I dearly loved paper dolls and had a big box of them under my bed when I was little.
ReplyDeleteGranny, I remember all those things. I am 76. How times have changed! ❤️ Fran
ReplyDeleteYes I recall all those things! Back when we had a resort...I had eight fridges to defrost every Saturday....hair dryer was my friend:) Yes clean nail polish:) I wore pants under dresses to school in the winter:)
ReplyDeleteHow relaxing to drink your coffee and watch the rain!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed dressing the paper dolls!!
In general, life was simpler but also more elegant!!
A big smile for this nice Post 💙 Times changed into better but not only into better .... When we transported by car our little boys into holidays in Bella Italia, we put out the seats in the back part of the car, so the children could sleep and play a lot :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I remember all of those things. In the 60s, my mother made all of my dresses for school. Every now and again she would sew us "skorts" or grannie dresses. So much fun! We didn't even use the seat belts in our station wagon - we were all over the back seat. I'm not sure how my father concentrated on driving.
ReplyDeleteI remember defrosting that old fridge, but there weren't any car seats if our family. Sadly I don't remember much about women's dresses or pantyhose.
ReplyDeleteI remember everything you show us how much fun it was to dress paper dolls!
ReplyDeleteExcellent- and fun- post!! Your stirred up many fond memories for this 75- year -old! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at your memes, and indeed, the freezer that needed defrosting. Thankful that most freezers nowadays don't need defrosting. I do love the style of the 50s, and remember the baby doll PJs too. I used the clear nail polish for hose, and we wore dresses to school too. Those were the days! It rained here today, about 1/4" and we so needed it! So thankful!
ReplyDeleteA great trip down memory lane! I remember almost alll of those things including the nail polish on panty hose and having to wear dresses to school but the dresses from the 50's were before my time. Great post!
ReplyDeleteEllabie
I so enjoyed these ‘flashbacks’…I remember each one. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, it’s always so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy day, Virginia
I remember them all except that 70s child seat. I had to laugh at how much fashion has changed from the 60s to 2025. So true!
ReplyDeleteGreat fun! I remember all of these.
ReplyDeleteThose were some fun flashbacks. I remember most of them, especially clear polish on pantyhose. The lemon scones sounds delish.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous flashback ... thank you.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I used to love the paper dolls and dressing them in their paper dresses! I doubt many children these days would find them very exciting, as I got older I enjoyed drawing and cutting my own and as a teenager, paper nickers (and dresses) .. remember them?!!!. Nail polish on my tights, yes! and defrosting the freezer - well we still have one like that in the UK they are not so unusual lol!
ReplyDeleteI loved remembering all these things, yes I remember them all♥
