It's a lovely sunny day and I thought I'd show you some of what's blooming in my garden right now.
I only have one Peony left and it's this white one with the dab of red in the centre. It has just begun to open and I'm so glad there are lots more buds.
A few more Irises have opened.....My pictures don't do them justice.
Every year I get told what this lovely spreader is and I promptly forget. It has jumped the edge and keeps right on growing on the cement (?). That's one of my tomatoes in the pot.
My Allium have grown so tall again. This is actually city property where I've made a flowerbed. Next to it is the gravel parking where the guys park their trucks.
The strange looking bulbs blooming beside them are nectaroscordum. They also grow tall and some of them have curved stems. These two were the only straight ones.

This perennial exudes a strong garlic scent when bruised, hence its common name of Sicilian Honey Garlic. Easy to grow, undemanding and beautiful.

ReplyDeleteOur two Korean Dogwoods are now coming into flower, now that the native ones are done. Welsh poppies are blooming.
Absolutely nothing is blooming in my garden but I can sure enjoy yours! We used to have iris just like that when I was a child. SO MANY! I loved it when they bloomed in the spring alongside what I think were called tiger Lillies. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your garden with us.

ReplyDeleteIt's the white peonies that are blooming in my garden, too, along with irises and lots of columbine. One rosebush is in bloom with more buds on the other bushes. I like the way you've beautified the city space!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Nothing is blooming in my garden at the moment. I'm in what I call my green period. The Daffodil both yellow and white are long gone, and the deep purple Iris just finished blooming a few days ago. Right now I have lots of green, as the lilies are all up without buds.........so, am envious of all your color.

Last fall I planted a rudbeckia, and have been amazed at how huge it grew. Its first big flower just opened! Other than that, I have so many things blooming, it's glorious, and too much to list. The lavender look like they will open soon... but the weather just turned cold again after a hot spell, so maybe they will decide to wait a bit.
ReplyDeleteI have a "spreader" campanula similar to yours. It might be the same. But mine is growing in too much shade, and doesn't bloom... It's been there a long time, but maybe I should try to move it anyway. It's kind of silly to have it where it can't do what it surely wants to do.
