I've had Basil growing on the south window since early Spring. I keep cutting it back and it keeps right on growing. I found an empty pot with some dirt and shook the seed packet over it in case a few last seeds remained and you can see in that little green pot...they came up. I like having it right next to the little table where DH and I have our meals. I take my scissors out and cut it in shred over my supper. :)
I've also supplied whoever wanted some ( and sometimes almost coerced them into "needing' some. :)
In our family a few pronounce Basil differently than others. How do you say it? Here's what the internet tells me.
Most Canadians traditionally pronounce "basil" with a short "a" sound (BAZ-uhl / ˈbæz.əl ), rhyming with words like "frazzle" or "dazzle", which aligns with British English.
However, because of close cultural and media ties to the United States, the American long "a" pronunciation (BAY-zuhl / ˈbeɪ.zəl ), rhyming with "nasal," is also widely heard.
I'm staying with the British pronunciation.
That's it for today. Thanks for dropping by.
