Random stuff

Does anyone know what  flower this is that has the blue blooms?  I bought this mixed pot a while ago and this flower was just starting to open. It's so pretty and I have no idea what it is. The flowers have very short stems.

We had our Thanksgiving meal yesterday. Here's the table all ready for the food and the family ( not everyone could make it). Everything was delicious. Today we had leftovers.

I watched a program on TV today that really irked me. It was about organizing your library. Okay, I have quite a few books and I thought I could pick up some pointers.  First she said you should remove all your books, go through them and donate any you no longer want. So far so good. Then she proceeded to show how to organize the rest.  She had quite a large bookcase with maybe 5 shelves which she filled with  about 30 books and a couple of dozen knick-knacks.  All her books were hard cover ( most of mine are not!) and she recommended grouping books by colour not subject. How dumb is that. I think my books will stay just as they are. This way I usually know just where any particular one can be found.

Alright, that's my little rant. I hope your week is off to a great start.  We have sunshine and I intend to be outside tomorrow. It might be a good day to get those Dahlias out.
Thanks for visiting,

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you! We had our meal at our daughters tonight. We shared the cooking between us. Just four of us, including my son's girlfriend (he is in England). My daughter did the colour thing with her bookcase when she first moved in to her own place. She didn't like it because it made it hard to find a particular book, so she gave up on that idea and just went back to whatever method worked best for her.

  3. I agree-what a dumb organizing idea.
I group mine by subject--gardening, history, how-to, nature.

  4. Hi G.M so glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving. We had our meal Monday night and will enjoy the leftovers today.
Interesting idea to group your books by colour. I,like you have many books. It would be a heck of a job!
We had an outside day yesterday mowing lawns and cleaning all the windows.
    Have a good week!

  6. Ridiculous idea. Then you have to remember the color of the book you want!! Ha. Phil/ Minnesota

  7. Well I like a challenge, but after a lot of Googling I didn't find a plant that looked exactly like your's. I wondered if it was some sort of Gloxinia, but couldn't find one with leaves like the one you have. You may have to go back to the nursery and ask!

  8. I hope someone is able to solve the mystery of the blue flower. I'm afraid it won't be me, however. It sure is pretty.
I had to chuckle at your rant. It sounds like maybe she was a decorator more interested in the appearance of the books than the practicality.

  9. I can't help with your blue flowers either, but they sure are pretty. My books are organized by author. I agree that organizing by color is dumb!
