The raccoons came visiting at night and decided to have a snack of grubs in the middle of the lawn.
They sure make a mess. I will post a bit of information from the internet.
Grubs are C-shaped beetle or moth larvae that feed on grass roots, causing lawns to become spongy and brown. Raccoons, skunks, and other animals dig up these lawns searching for the plump, juicy grubs, especially in late summer and fall. Common pest grubs include European Chafers.
The most effective way to get rid of them is to dig up all your soil and sift them out.
Flowers for the table.
We had heavy rain last night. Then this morning we walked in fog but by noon the sun was shining and it was beautiful out. Clouds are moving in again and it looks like we may get a shower.
Happy last day of September ๐๐๐
Those raccoons certainly did leave a mess!!! Love the last two images/illustrations! Here in Montreal, the weather has been gorgeous as well! We had a couple of days of rain, but that is to be expected in the Autumn. So lovely to have comfortable temperatures after such a hot and humid summer! And the colours are starting to show as well!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers for the table are gorgeous!
The raccooons did big work! It's good, that they eat the grubs, but HOW they eat is not so nice. I love the flowers on the table๐น๐๐ธ๐บ๐ท๐ป๐ฅ๐ผ๐ชป๐ชท๐ฎ Watching the rain with a happy face is fine. Here now since one hour it is October - I wish you a happy October!
ReplyDeleteWe had bad grub infestations and dug up lawns until we resorted to chemicals. Tom treats our lawn once or twice a year now and so far that has worked.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had much rain at all yet, had a sunny day, but now the rain is moving in. The weather service map is green with yellow blobs.
Oh my! Those raccoons did a number on your beautiful lawn. I hope it recovers soon. Those are gorgeous flowers on your table. Were they for something special?
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping those raccoons got ALLthe grubs; that would be some recompense for the mess!
ReplyDeleteThankfully we dont have raccoons here!
ReplyDeleteAck, those pesky raccoons made a big mess, so sorry! Your flowers are beautiful, I love the doily beneath them. Happy October 1st, enjoy the lovely weather and best wishes to all, Virginia
ReplyDeleteOh my! Those raccoons surely made a mess. The vase of flowers are so pretty. I like that they are the colors of autumn.
ReplyDeleteMy hand is up for liking to sit on the porch and watch it rain.
Wow, those pesky raccoons really did a number on your lawn.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are a much more desirable sight.
We have our own family of regular visiting raccoons, though they have never dug up my yard...yet. They eat any birdseed and toss parts of one feeder to empty it all and once they even carried a feeder away into the woods. But I can not help it...those little rascals are so cute! We had a mother and three little ones all on our outside stand feeder for awhile every evening.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to concentrate on your beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteHoping the last day of September was wonderful and I wish you a happy new month of October.
All the best Jan
Darn Raccoons anyway:(
ReplyDeleteI did not know that raccoons could make a mess like that. Good grief.
